It's Been A Long Road: A Farewell To Screened

After two years and thousands of stories, I'm leaving Screened and moving on to other adventures.

This made it all worthwhile.
This made it all worthwhile.

Hey, guys. As many of you know, it's been an interesting couple of weeks for Screened and Whiskey Media. You're probably aware that Screened has been sold to a Los Angeles-based company; with their ties to the entertainment industry, I'm sure that they are going to ensure that Screened is practically a household name for movie lovers in the future. Unfortunately, I will not be a part of that future, as I have decided to move on from Screened and pursue other opportunities. You can check out BermanBraun's post regarding their plans for Screened here!

It has been a fun couple of years, and I’d like to thank everyone who’s visited, commented, or sent in podcast questions, and especially those of you who took the time to edit the wiki. I appreciate all the support for our crazy little venture. The notion that what we’ve done here has been worth you taking some time out of your day to come by for a visit means a lot to me. A big thanks go out, as well, to our freelancers, who helped create some amazing content that I was proud to publish. Also, all of our mods deserve a big round of applause, but especially ScanCase and Finaldasa for helping out with the Community Showcases over the past months. And of course I'd be remiss if I didn't shoutout Alex, who invited me along on this crazy ride almost two years ago. Lastly, Joey Fameli deserves a ton of credit for making me look much more capable of hosting a video than I actually am.

I greatly appreciate all the well-wishes that you guys have sent my way recently; it's been very touching to hear how Screened has been a part of your life over the last couple of years.

It's been a blast!
It's been a blast!

I don’t know what will become of Screened in the future, although I think you’ll have some new editors sometime soon. Please treat them as well as you’ve treated me. As for me, I am not entirely sure what the future will bring at this point, although I plan to take a little bit of time off and look for the golden fertility idol of the Chachapoyan Warriors. Marrakesh! It’s the only place he could sell it! I need two thousand dollars. Join my Kickstarter.

I’m joking, of course; I have no Kickstarter. I do, on the other hand, have a new personal Tumblr site that I’ve set up at matthewrorie.tumblr.com, where I plan to publish whatever writing crosses my mind in the interim between Whiskey and whatever comes next. It might be fun to actually write about something other than movies for a change! I hope to put up something of length every weekday. If you wish to do me a favor, please do either bookmark that site, leave me a comment there, or follow me on Twitter so that you'll know when I publish something new. To get things started, I’m running a giveaway over there, where you can pick up an actual, game-worn copy of none other than Denizen, the hilariously...good movie that we screened at the first Big Big Live Show Live! All you have to do is leave a comment on the story over there, and when I record the next Ramblin' Rorie installment, I'll give it away.

Although this might be my last front-page post on Screened, but I'm sure you will still see me around on the forums; if I've had a regret about my work here, it's that my busy schedule hasn't permitted me as much time to post on them as I'd like. I'll be happy to respond to any PMs you wish to send me, and my rorie@screened.com email will still work for the immediate future. In any case, I’ll try not to be a stranger. In the meantime...let’s do this one last time:
