Jeff Bridges To Play A Ghost Cop With Ryan Reynolds

R.I.P.D. pits Bridges and Reynolds as supernatural crime fighters, like reverse Ghostbusters.

We live in a world where Jeff Bridges and Zach Galifianakis are interchangeable.

In what sounds to be a huge win for Universal, the studio has signed Oscar winner and all around laid back dude and good time Charlie, Jeff Bridges, in their upcoming film, R.I.P.D.. The True Grit actor will star alongside throbby heart Ryan Reynolds in a movie that sounds like some sort of reverse Ghostbusters/Beetlejuice mashup.

Based on a Dark Horse comic, the film follows murdered cop Nick Cruz (Reynolds) as he's recruited into the afterlife's police squad, the Rest In Peace Department. For 100 years of service, Cruz might get the chance to track down his own killer. I know, I was hoping this was just going to be a straight movie about Rhode Island's law enforcement as well.

Bridges is actually filling in the spot that was originally said to be Zach Galifianakis', as Cruz's old-timer partner. I don't know if that's a sign of the meteoric rise of Galifianakis, or of Bridges' career history of doing whatever the fuck he wants, but regardless this sounds like a ridiculous premise that I will probably pay my $12 to see. Bridges can do comedy with the best of them (see: The Big Lebowski and The Men Who Stare At Goats, which I loved) and Reynolds is always fairly solid, so this should be entertaining.

On the strength of Lebowski alone I'd call Bridges the greatest living comedic actor so....colour me interested.

Massive upgrade, Zach's 15 fad minutes are about up. He needs to die tragically like the fat clowns always do so we can bring someone new in.

When sushi becomes art as much as it is food, the art of presenting it on film becomes transformative not only to the cuisine, but the people who make it.
