Make It So: All Star Trek Series Coming To Netflix Instant

Streaming service will gain all five Star Trek series in July.

 Oh, it's coming.
 Oh, it's coming.
With  Star Trek seemingly destined to become an exclusively theatrical franchise, it's easy to forget that there's hundreds of hours of excellent television episodes waiting to be discovered for the neophyte Trekkie. However, Netflix is about to make it much, much easier to get caught up on your backlog of Trek, should you have one: they recently announced a deal ( via trekmovie.com)with CBS Television Studios, which Paramount Television was merged into a couple of years ago, to stream all five live-action Star Trek series on their service starting on July 1st. In trekmovie's words:

Firstly Netflix confirmed they will be streaming every episode of every season for all five live-action Star Trek series: the original Star Trek, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, and Star Trek: Enterprise. TOS, TNG, Voyager and Enterprise will all become available on July 1st. DS9 will launch on October 1st. TOS and Enterprise will be available in HD. The only Trek TV that Netflix will not be streaming is Star Trek: The Animated Series from the 70s, as that show was not included in the CBS deal.

Unfortunately, this is for the U.S. only, and is only a two-year contract, but if you have a streaming plan and have ever wondered what all the fuss is about with regards to The Next Generation or Deep Space Nine's Dominion War, you can go ahead and remove those 200 DVDs from your queue and wait a couple of months. Regrettably, DS9 won't be available until October, and that's the one I really want to re-watch, but in the meantime, I suppose I can make do with re-watching the end of Best Of Both Worlds, Part 1 over and over again, or maybe I'll try to get past the first season of Voyager for once. Which episode will you be loading up first when these series hit Netflix?

Of course CBS.com has been streaming a bunch of ST:TAS.  Now why have they is a good question.

I am going to load up TNG's Cause and Effect and then The Drumhead.

I'd like to see some TOS again.  BBC America still broadcasts TNG, so I'm not longing for that.  Still, it won't be until October and DS9 that I really start tuning in to Trek again.

I've heard a lot about this "Star Trek" show, is it any good?

I wonder if Star Trek does well on Netflix if that could spur another television series.

I'm planning to watch every episode of every series actually. Sure thats like 19 days worth of Star Trek, but I have two years to do it. So I'll either start with TOS or Enterprise and go from there.

It's been a long road, getting from there to here.

Purchased the complete Star Trek: TNG DVD set immediately after the Whiskey MLK marathon. Strangely this news didn't make me regret the purchase, even though the quality of the DVD set itself is fairly poor.

I think I'll start out with TNG, then work my way down from there if I like what I see. I heard TNG is the most approachable show in the series, and the most entertaining.

This is great.  I will finally be able to watch all of DS9 from start to finish.  I love that series but got into it as it was in it's final seasons.  I may try to watch Voyager since it will be up first and it's only five seasons I think, so I'll try it out.

@TheHT:  Either the season finale "Call to Arms" where the Defiant flies with the Federation armada, or the season 7 episode "Sacrifice of Angels".

Oh Netfilx, you let me watch all of Arrested Development, Futurama, The IT Crowd, and now every Star Trek ever. I love you.

I'm only excited about Enterprise since that's my favorite. Never seen DS9, is it any good?
