"Any time you can get Big Willie [Editor's Note: I think he might be talking about Will Smith] to come out and talk about doing a third installment of a hot movie like 'Bad Boys,' you have to take notice," Lawrence explained. "I met with Michael Bay, and he said he's onboard too — so it's real."
Awesome. Hey Jerry Bruckheimer, why don't you tell ComingSoon.net if the shit is really real yet?
"I got Big Willie to come down and see me about the movie. I felt special," Lawrence said of a visit Smith paid to his friend recently to talk about getting the band back together, adding that at this point, the green light is in the hands of the franchise producer. "We're just waiting on Jerry Bruckheimer to let us know when it's really real."
Wait, now I am confused as to this project's level of realness. Martin Lawrence seems pretty convinced of significant realness, whereas Bruckheimer appears slightly more apprehensive in his realness assessment. One way or another, it sounds like the principals want this project to get off the ground. Me? Look, I will defend Bad Boys II very much in spite of itself. That movie is eight tons of stupid, but it was also a ridiculous entertainment. That car chase with the truck carrying cars? How great was that? Plus they go to Cuba and fight the goddamn Cuban military for barely explainable reasons!
"It's a wish and a hope and a dream. We've been working on a screenplay, which is excellent. It's an idea Will gave us, so hopefully, it will come to fruition, we would love it to."
All that said, I question as to whether I really want to watch Martin Lawrence and Will Smith...erm, sorry Martin, BIG WILLIE do this routine again. Unless of course they filmed it in 3D. That would make it the most necessary movie of our time.
