Damon reacts to the news that he's in a movie about a zoo.
Hey, where's
Cameron Crowe been? He hasn't directed anything since
Elizabethtown, which came out all the way back in 2005. That's hardly a
Terrence Malick-ian gap, mind you, but it's still a bit of a wait between films for such a well-regarded filmmaker. It doesn't look like we'll have to wait too long for a new Crowe, though, as the director is in talks with
Matt Damon to have the well-named megastar appear in
We Bought A Zoo, a true story based on an English family that buys a dilapidated zoo and attempts to fix it up as a tourist attraction. (Variety by way of
Slashfilm.)
The film apparently already has a script by the screenwriter of
The Devil Wears Prada, but as Slashfilm points out, it's unlikely that Crowe will direct without giving it a bit of a re-write. But it looks like we only have about a year and a half to wait until another film of his hits the big screen. Color me excited; let's just hope this one is of a quality closer to
Almost Famous or
Jerry Maguire than
Elizabethtown.
I'm interested in this story though.
I prefer the movie The Devil Wears Nada over the Devil wears Prada.
