Matt Damon And Cameron Crowe Joining "A Zoo"

Director, actor attached to project about a family that buys a zoo. How perfectly droll!

Hey, where's Cameron Crowe been? He hasn't directed anything since Elizabethtown, which came out all the way back in 2005. That's hardly a Terrence Malick-ian gap, mind you, but it's still a bit of a wait between films for such a well-regarded filmmaker. It doesn't look like we'll have to wait too long for a new Crowe, though, as the director is in talks with Matt Damon to have the well-named megastar appear in We Bought A Zoo, a true story based on an English family that buys a dilapidated zoo and attempts to fix it up as a tourist attraction. (Variety by way of Slashfilm.)

The film apparently already has a script by the screenwriter of The Devil Wears Prada, but as Slashfilm points out, it's unlikely that Crowe will direct without giving it a bit of a re-write. But it looks like we only have about a year and a half to wait until another film of his hits the big screen. Color me excited; let's just hope this one is of a quality closer to Almost Famous or Jerry Maguire than Elizabethtown.

Couldn't Cameron Crow just do a sequel to Fierce Creatures instead? I'm sure Jamie Lee Curtis needs a hot meal.

I loved Almost Famous but I still never understand the appeal to Jerry Maguire.
I'm interested in this story though.

I read this book, a real hart warming/sad story. Hopefully it turns into a good movie, cause I can't really see as one right now. It all really depends on the quality of the script and how they do things because the book doesn't lend itself well to be a movie.

Wow Cameron Crowe... Guess that guy took a long and entirely necessary break after the crappy Elizabethtown. Hope these years have allowed him to get his shit back together.

I didn't read the article at all because I couldn't stop thinking about baby lions.  Sooooo cute.

I prefer the movie The Devil Wears Nada over the Devil wears Prada.

Crowe's balance of drama and comedy haven't failed me yet, despite me not watching Elizabeth town, and Damon's use of this dramedy method in The Informant! worked amazingly in my opinion, so let's make lemonade. Plus, Damon with an english accent  would be kick ass.
