Netflix Instant Update: New and Expiring Movies - November 1st

Rock and Roll goes into a Casino that turns into a B-horror movie. Find out what that means and more in this New to Netflix!

Skyfall took a strange trail from concept to movie screen. Casino Royale reinvented the franchise and yet only 2 movies into the Daniel Craig era there was a chance Bond would die. But here we are with a new Bond film coming out and now the best new Bond film is available for you to catch up with.

New to the Service:

Casino Royale:

A new Bond, a new style, and a new timeline. Casino Royale reset more than the actor in the suit and it shows you wear a man like James Bond comes from and why he is the way he is. It somewhat humanized a borderline machine secret agent that James Bond usually acts like. He always seems steps ahead and always emotionally distant. Casino Royale gives you some insight of who Bond is and all the fancy gadgets and crazy actions scenes you love from a James Bond film.

Evil Dead:

Evil Dead
Evil Dead

Just in time for Halloween right? Before Sam Raimi was known for the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man trilogy, but would it surprise some of you to know his directorial history was much darker? The Evil Dead was a horror film with a small budget that has attained cult hit status. The sequel was a remake in hopes of making it better but that doesn't take away from the unique style that both have. It's worth a watch to understand why so many love these movies and why so many were disappointed in Spider-Man.

Airheads:

A group of dimwitted wanna-be rock stars storm their way into a radio station and lose their chance to get their demo played, pull out guns and take the place over. Let me be clear, this movie is dumb. But putting Brendan Fraser, Steve Buscemi, Adam Sandler, Chris Farley, Ernie Hudson, Judd Nelson, Joe Mantegna, and so many others in one movie something in it has to be good. Something about this movie is just cute, quiant, and entirely watchable. Don't go in expecting gold but it's worth a watch and you may just find out you like it.

Expiring Soon:

Kick-Ass: Nov. 3rd

Nic Cage kicking ass
Nic Cage kicking ass

With the flux of superhero movies it isn't shocking that someone would make their own to cash in while they can. Kick-Ass however may have been made to cash in but it did it with it's own style and pizazz. Gritty, violent, and sometime brutal, Kick-Ass reflects what superheroes might be if they were real people like us. Disillusioned with society and sending themselves into the streets to protect the innocent and defeat the evildoers. Kick-Ass is a great movie so get this in quick!

Naruto the Movie: Nov. 8th

Naruto the Movie 1, 2, and 3 all expire on the same day so if you're into Naruto you might want to schedule in a viewing marathon sometime this weekend. I haven't heard from someone who has seen these if they're worth the watch, but as someone who did watch Naruto for a bit the first one at least intrigues me.

Ditto on the Casino Royale not showing up.

Shame it isn't, it's easily the best movie of all time, and I wanted a friend to see it before Skyfall.

Eh, I'll just watch the Blu-ray

You have to love movie snobs who think they have the better "favorite" movie. What's yours? I see your profile picture with Donnie Darko, a completely trash movie, should I have chosen that?

Or maybe The Godfather, Good Will Hunting? Right? Fuck off, I've seen THOUSANDS of movies, including a lot of the "classics".

Donnie Darko lovers need to enjoy better movies.

You didn't say favorite, you said best. Feel free to have whatever favorite movie you want, but claiming that a popcorn action movie (albeit a very good one) is the best movie of all time a little blasphemous. It's like Kanye West saying Beyonce's sub-par music video was the best of all time at the VMAs. You're only making yourself look bad. You could call it snobbery, I would call it the passion to defend an art form that I care dearly for. And pidgeonholing someone on their profile picture is pretty judgmental. I'm not going to judge you for having Jesus as your picture, because I don't try to assign someone a personality based on the profile picture they chose on a movie website. I chose that as my picture like two years ago because at the time I really liked Donnie Darko. In fact, if you had asked me at the time, I would have probably said it was one of the best movies of all time. Because I was young and ignorant. Since then, I have seen a lot more movies and expanded my horizons, and realized that Donnie Darko isn't even very good (although out of laziness I haven't changed my profile pic), and calling any movie the best of all time is kind of a stupid claim to make unless you have really compelling evidence to back it up. Thinking that Good Will Hunting and The Godfather (two of the most mainstream "great" movies I can think of) would be movies that a "snob" would jump to as the best of all time instead of something like Tokyo Story or The Seventh Seal tells me that you probably haven't seen very many movies, or at least not as many as you think. Anyway, Casino Royale is a great film, and the fact that you like it so much tells me that your head is screwed on right. In a couple of years, after you've been exposed to filmmakers like Bergman, Fellini, Kurosawa, Cassavetes, and Godard, let me know if you still think Casino Royale is the best film of all time. And try not to judge strangers so quickly and lash out at them for petty details, especially on the internet (but sadly, for the most part that is what all internet arguments consist of). As inconceivable as it may sound, (and I apologize because there is no way to say this without sounding condescending) you might actually encounter someone who knows more than you on a subject. I wish you the best of luck in continuing to watch and enjoy high quality movies.

Dude, you are the definition of an obnoxious movie snob. The entire concept of a "BEST MOVIE" is entirely subjective, I don't need evidence to prove that, because that "evidence" differs so much from person to person. No, Casino Royale is not a popcorn movie, that implies it's a forgettable ABC family movie. It is so much more, because it is the perfect action movie, blending amazing mysterious characters with great action. Did you actually think I was trying to "PROVE" to anyone, that Casino Royale is number one? I don't fucking argue with people over their number ones, because that's pathetic, it's a completely personal choice, not objective.

Just because I haven't seen the movies of the directions you've mentioned, does not mean I haven't seen enough movies. That is like saying I haven't listened to enough music. There will never be a point where I have watched everything, something will always be left out.

Casino Royale, I feel, will always hold the number one spot in my heart. Now I should tell you I consider Quantum of Solace my second best, because if i said that in the first post, you just might have fainted.

Actually, forget that last response. Because I'm here and I have nothing better to do, let me point out a few things. 1. None of those directors that I mentioned are considered obscure, they are simply considered great. Every single one that I mentioned (except Cassavetes, I believe) has one or more films on the Sight & Sound Poll's official Greatest Films of All Time list. If you knew anything about film you would recognize them. 2. True, I'm being obnoxious right now, because it's the internet, but so are you so I don't think you can count that against me. I'm not a "hipster movie snob", I'm somebody who really likes movies, and happens to know more about them than you do. Sorry, it's true. 3. This is a movie website, what did you expect? That everyone on here thinks that James Bond is the pinnacle of the cinematic art form? Screened has taken a bit of a downhill turn under the new management, but I still like to think that they are at least trying to uphold of the idea of a movie website, where film lovers of all kinds can discuss and analyze movies and television. Some, like you, have only a cursory knowledge of film, which is totally fine, but to think that anyone who wishes to discuss movies more advanced than Skyfall or The Avengers is a snob is close-minded on your part. I stand by my earlier assessment. If you really think Casino Royale is the absolute best thing that film has to offer, you really have not seen enough movies. And I don't mean that as an insult, I mean it as a challenge. Watch more movies. Marvel in the magic of film. Continue to find new movies that challenge and fascinate you and I guarantee that you will eventually realize the true power of movies. You'll probably reply to this comment with a snarky response about how I'm a condescending hipster snob, but I do hope that some of the message gets across. You're probably, oh, I don't know, 14 or 15, so you have a lot of good years of movie watching ahead of you. Enjoy them.

Heh, you sure do love proving how pathetic you are, don't you? Let me get some things straight:

You are not better than anyone, your movie interests included. Nobody cares what you have seen, or what movies you love. Nobody cares, and you'd do best to figure that out quickly. Or you can continue to act like a dickwad thinking that you know more about movies than others, giving you permission to tell people their movie choices are wrong.

Of course, you're already at the pinnacle of douchebaggery, so nothing I said to you registered anyway. After you finish reading this, you should go sit near a hot topic, and decide which movies are best from them. Anyone who ever liked Donnie Darko, even if you don't now, has literally nothing to say about what movies other people like. You lost credibility when you liked it, and even more when you went back on it.

Gotta love the pretentious movie critic wannabes like you scrounging comment threads to prove their worth. Thank you for the laughs though.
