It was announced today that Robert Rodriguez's much anticipated sequel to the 2005 adaptation of the Sin City graphic novel will finally go in to production this summer and will be titled Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. As a fan of the graphic novel (yes, I'm a girl that reads graphic novels) and the original film, this news makes me smile. The style was so visually stimulating and ground-breaking that it took my breath away, and Frank Miller promises that "Robert Rodriguez and I are going to shake things up and deliver a ferocious film experience that is going to go even further than the first."
In the press release, Rodriguez reveals that there has been such a long time lapse in between the films because they wanted to make sure that the story was exceptional enough to please the fans. He thinks they have that now, which is nice to know that he cares about making the audience happy and not just the money. They are keeping many aspects of the script under wraps, but we do know that it will involve three stories from the A Dame to Kill For graphic novel and two others that haven't been announced. They also have not announced any specifics about casting or which actors will return for the second installment, but since the graphic novel version of A Dame to Kill For is heavy on Clive Owen's character we can only assume…and hope he will be back. I have to say, this is a sequel I can get excited about!

Awesome! Curious to see what this one turns out to be. Was there more Sin City graphic novel material to go off of?
I'm pretty stoked for this too! Hopefully it will live up to the last film's standards and expectations. It was a real treat to see actors playing roles they normally wouldn't.
Man it's been forever since I've seen Sin CIty, but I'm glad that this finally happening.
As a fan of both the novels and films, all I can say is
Oh man....OH MAN! Someone pinch me!
They need to hurry it up. The actors aren't getting any younger.
Man it's been 7 years.
Well it's good that Rodriguez actually wants to make a quality movie. Although if he was just gonna cash in we would be talking about Sin City 3 by now.
This is great news. Love the Sin City graphic novels.
This is great! I loved the first one ( I haven't even read the novels, should I?). I really really hope it doesn't have the curse of the sequels though.
In these past 7 years, the outstandingly talented Frank Miller has become a real creepy asshole. I hope that doesn't effect this flick (negatively, at least).
About fucking time.

My sentiments exactly.
That reminds me, I haven't watched Sin City in a while. Good news.
Good lord, 2005? I feel old now.
Did anyone else have look at the byline to see that the author was female?
@Foggen: I think they'll use a different actor...i mean...they have to...he looked completely different before the surgery in the comics...basically had a new face...wouldn't make sense to just make his nose bigger or change his chin

I was just saying it feels like this movie is almost 10 years old, sure enough it is almost there.
(yes, I'm a girl that reads graphic novels)
/facepalm
Anyway, if you look past the art style there is not much merit to Sin City.
"As a fan of the graphic novel (yes, I'm a girl that reads graphic novels)"
Are girls that read graphic novels somehow rare now?
As a fan of screened.com (yes, I'm a guy that reads screened.com) I find this kind of writing disappointing.
