A few casting notes on a slow Wednesday afternoon:
- After coming together on The Expendables 2, it looks like Sly Stallone and Arnold will re-team for another action movie in something called The Tomb. According to Deadline: "Stallone plays a man who has designed a high-tech prison that is said to be escape-proof. When he is set up and sent to the prison he created, he essentially must go up against himself to escape and find retribution. Schwarzenegger plays a fellow inmate, a complex guy whose tough exterior hides the reality: he’s an okay guy who fights to keep the prisoners from losing their humanity." That sounds absolutely ridiculous. Did you know that both Stallone and Schwarzenegger are pushing 70? With the way medical technology is progressing, are we going to be seeing Statham take down mobsters with his cane when he's 100+?
- In otherwise unsurprising team-ups, brosephs Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn are going to make yet another film that will inevitably cause the ushers at your local college's movie theater to fear having to clean up after its screenings, with the pair teaming up as fortysomething assholes (just speculating on that part) who get laid off and are forced to get internships at a dotcom to restart their careers. Because that's what happens when people get laid off in the middle of their careers; they start all over again at the beginning.
- Natalie Portman has decided to join the next two Terence Malick films, Lawless and Knight Of Cups, both of which will be filming sometime this year. She hasn't been in anything since Black Swan, if I recall correctly, after taking some time out to have a baby, but she'll have plenty of time to make up for it by looking at curtains gently swaying in an afternoon breeze or mulling over how dinosaurs had the opportunity to influence the course of World War II or something equally mysterious and beautiful, no doubt.
- Someone named Sullivan Stapleton has been cast as Xerxes in 300: The Battle Of Artemisia. Stapleton was a member of the crime family at the heart of Animal Kingdom, which I still need to see.

Statham at 85 doing a Crank movie would be the greatest gift Hollywood could ever give me. Somehow push that ridiculousness beyond comprehension.
Natalie Portman was in Your Highness, right? I think that was after Black Swan.
I'm not one for pervy, celebrity pictures and gossip, but there were some Emma Stone bikini pictures revealed today, so that picture has some sort of relevance today (not that it needs it).
And now I just feel dirty.
Ahem.
Anyway, that whole Stallone/Schwarzenegger thing sounds like the dumbest film ever so I guess I could dig it? If they managed to make it through The Expendables 2 they may as well keep it going.
I was going to comment but now I have to go onto Google and do an image search. NOT for Emma Stone in a bikini. It's for... er... homework.
The Stallone/Schwarzenegger film sounds both dumb and great, and I want to see it.
And Terence Malick will film TWO movies this year? Doesn't he take ten year breaks in between films?
Stapleton has also been in Strike Back: Project Dawn, which is quite awesome for people that like cool looking behind enemy lines dudes shooting and knifing other dudes in a pretty realistic way. Also, there are, like, a dozen sex scenes. In every episode. Damn Cinemax.
I love old men kicking ass so I'd love to see Statham as an elderly British man with cane just wrecking fools.
Damn it, Rorie! How dare you use an adorable picture of Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy to lure me into an article about which I don't care at all!
It's cool, though. At least I got to look at Emma Stone's pretty face for a while.

She was also in No Strings Attached, and Thor after Black Swan.
This whole Emma Stone thing is bordering on creepy.

I'm pretty sure Rorie's jumped that border already.
Yeah....I'm gonna finally say that I don't find Emma Stone attractive at all. There were some shots of her in Crazy Stupid Love that mader look pretty hideous...I swear she had a unibrow in that one scene where she broke up with Josh Groban.

But she is so cute!
I demand that Stallone and Schwarzenegger become the new Lemmon and Matthau.
I am actually fine with Ahnold and Stallone in a movie together but the "plot" of The Tomb sounds atrocious. If they want to do all they're doing at their age, more power to them but don't give us crap movies dammnit. Eet's not a tumah!
Hearing about Schwarzenegger's long-awaited return to the screen has reminded me that I recently viewed The Running Man after reading the book of the same name. The Running Man is not a good film, but it is an alright book--albeit one with a rather slapdash ending.
This news completely makes up for that Expendables 2 bullshit.

No, I am with Rorie on this one. You can never get too much Emma in your week. Although I prefer her with her natural hair color but hey, it's still Emma.
@Olivaw: In the meantime Michael Caine has you covered in Harry Brown.
