You know, Sigourney Weaver doesn’t get nearly enough of her due from genre fans. For serious, she was arguably more crucial to the Alien series than the damn xenomorph, and people underestimate how necessary a proper straight man (or woman) is for comedy to work, so I'd say her parts (both possessed and un-possessed) in Ghostbusters have been similarly undervalued. Also, I shouldn’t need to explain to anybody why she was so great in Galaxy Quest.
That preamble’s just there to properly set up the recent quotes Joblo’s gathered from her regarding her parts in Ghostbusters 3 and Avatar 2. Yep, even though she died in Avatar 1. See, she thusly intoned…
Don't worry, I will be back… Jim [Cameron] says no one ever dies in science fiction. He's told me the stories for the next two movies and I have to say that they're absolutely wonderful and there's a real treat in store. Now we just have to make them.
I so hope Jim's using Futurama’s hall of heads-in-jars as his basis for that first point. Actually, it isn’t that hard to imagine her character’s spirit flowing into the big ol’ tree of the Na’vi and then reincarnating through some New Age-y means that don't necessarily involve mood crystals.
Or she could just be showing up in flashbacks.
It was also her turn in to host the monthly Ghostbusters 3 update, forthrightly uttering…
I have yet to read the script… I've had a couple of calls and I know they're rewriting and all I said was that I hope my son, Oscar, has grown up to be a Ghostbuster and Ivan Reitman said yes. Beyond that, I have no idea. I hope it comes together, but we already did two wonderful films and, if we have to let this one go, that's fine.
All bets are off with this flick at this point, though the bizarre thought of them going back and hiring one of the twins who played baby Oscar tickles me. Imagine these kids, moving on with their lives, likely getting into totally different businesses... and then they get a 22-years-later callback.
Anyway, Weaver's still awesome. You all go ahead on chew on these latest slices of gristle from her.

I still think that making a new Ghostbusters movie today is a terrible idea.
As a huge fan of Avatar, I will be quick to point out that a dude died and came back to life in the end of that film, so really it's not that hard to believe she would come back.
Also, Sigourney Weaver is definitely my favorite actress so I'd love her to be in anything.

I don't know if there is a way it can be great. It'll probably be OK At best.
I hold the line that Ghostbusters 3 is a bad idea.
It's not unreasonable Sigourney Weaver would be back, but I won't be telling anybody she's going to be in the movie. I almost wish I hadn't known.
I seem to recall, maybe two years, Aykroyd said that Oscar WOULD be a new Ghostbuster, and that he'd like Ben Stiller to play him. Which I would totally be down with, actually. You're gonna need a good stable of newer comedians (and, perhaps, one straight man) to take up the mantle of Ghostbusters. And I'm certain that at least ONE KIND of Stiller would fit the bill (the crazy Zoolander kind, the crazy Dodgeball/Tropic Thunder kind, the straight-with-a-little-bit-of-crazy Starsky & Hutch kind, the straight Night at the Museum kind, etc.).
I'm eager to see what happens of Ghostbusters 3. I feel like it's going to be undone by lack of funding, and thusly the cast with suffer, and the talent actually making it will suffer. But I'm also pretty sure it WILL be willed into existence. It's going to be interesting.
Avatar fu**ing sucks though. I'll just ignore that stupid news.
I don't hate Ghostbusters, but alas, they aren't the greatest movies in the world. So many people hold them with a bit too high esteem, I think, but they are fun movies. I am reticent about all the rumors pertaining to a Ghostbusters 3 happening. A bit tired of hearing about it actually. If it happens, fine, and hope it does well.
Sigourney Weaver, yes, I can't argue with a damn thing Tom PInchuk is saying about her here, and do think she made the Aliens movies what they are. Without her, either as Ripley or a clone or whatev's, she is Aliens. She also made me appreciate stately Amazonian type women; she is still slender and all but she's a tall drink of water and you know she could crush your windpipe with her thighs. Not that it is a bad thing. :)

What?
But think about it man, they'll put Jack Black, Nick Swardson, Larry the Cable Guy, and Dane Cook as the new busters!
It'll be awesome...

Exactly!
It'd be cool if it turned out Oscar was possessed by a dormant Carpathian so he had ghost powers or something. Or it could be awful. Either way I already wrote the script and its a hard R.
Anyhow I have to hand it to Sigorney for managing to keep her career alive without going the Jane Fonda/Diane Keaton/Jamie Lee Curtis road of awful awful romcoms as "silly" mom or whatever.
Or, not to the same extent. We can forget You Again ever happened if you finished this Ghostbusters thing.

you just gave me a Ghostboner. (seewhatididtherelol)
Baby Oscar now a Ghostbuster? AWESOME!
Two more movies feature blue cat people that people won't shut up about? Mother Fucker ><
I guess she'll come back as the Obi-wan ghost of the Avatar series, living in the spirit tree or whatever that thing was called.
I hated her in Avatar personally.
Bro, can we get a spoiler warning for Avatar, please?
Just kidding. I do love Sigourney Weaver. She's usually really good in whatever role she's in, even if the movie itself is bad.

You continue to be the biggest idiot on this entire board. The fact you were once a moderator is absurd and then running away when you didn't get your way with that Linkyshinks mentalist is even worse. You're going to give me a petty, unoriginal comeback with shit spelling and grammar because it's the best you can muster. Please stop posting and fuck off back to ComicVine.

I think you misspelled "Acclaimed", and "praised him".
I pine for the days when I waited with seething anticipation to see Sigourney Weaver in a film. Now, all I do is feel pity for her languishing career. I know that she's already made her Thespian talents known -- and I love her despite any future career choices, but why must the great actors of old continue to sully themselves with shitty performances in decidedly poor films, all in the name of a bloated pay-check. Humbug!
Wasn't she the voice of a computer or something in Avatar? Or maybe I'm getting mixed up with Wall-E.
Going to remove my comments from here, not really interested in causing people to be so upset.
