I can't claim to know much about The Prisoner, having never watched many episode of it, but I know it's one of the most highly-regarded cult shows ever made, with influence that far outstrips its brief 17-episode run in the 60's. Despite being 35 years old, the fandom seems to keep inspiring new creations, including, in this instance, an entire band. Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling (named after the thirteenth episode in the series) says that they're "2/3rds of the way through a project to write/record 17 songs, each one inspired by/based on an episode of The Prisoner."
That presumably includes their premiere video above, which is effectively a shot-for-shot remake of the intro to The Prisoner. You can catch the original video here (and here's the band's website) but I thought the comparison video would be a bit more interesting for those of you who might not have seen the original series. Apparently this took two years of planning to pull off, but hell...it shows.

We watched a bunch of episodes of The Prisoner in English class senior year of high school. It's quite the show.
I've always wanted to get into The Prisoner but have not had the time. Some day I will watch it...
When I saw thumbnail for this article on the mainpage, I thought that it was Carlos D formerly of the band Interpol. But I looked it up and it wasn't him.....sigh :(
The Prisoner was fantastic.
This group are obviously big fans and their dedication is certainly impressive.
People should pick up the Prisoner blu-ray set. An incredible show with incredible image quality. I wonder why this band named themselves after the worst episode though.
AMC, the cable TV channel, did a mini-series a couple of years ago that returned to the Village. I don't know how good it was but I didn't like what I saw in the trailer videos.
It's long been suggested that Patrick McGoohan's character in The Prisoner, "Number 6", is actually his character from a previous TV series, Danger Man.
Still my favorite TV show of all time.

McGoohan himself said it wasn't true, while some of the other people involved with the Prisoner insisted it was. Either way, the Prisoner got plenty of inspiration from Danger Man, particularly Colony 9 I think it was, which is essentially a prototype for the Village. I found the characters to be too different myself. In Danger Man, he was calm and collected, but in the Prisoner he's a beast trying to keep control.
Oh man, this is awesome.
