Is there anything more romantic than the image of a man so completely unable to control his own temper that he punched his pop star girlfriend in the face, made homophobic rants on Twitter, and trashed a Good Morning America dressing room for pretty much no reason at all? How about the image of said abusively angry man in a film that's about women learning how often to have sex with their men to keep them from cheating on them?
Indeed, Chris Brown, otherwise known as "That guy who somehow gets to keep releasing popular albums and star in movies even enough he punched Rhianna," has signed on to star in a movie based on Steve Harvey's releationship advice book, "Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man." The lady part has been excised from the movie title, giving one the impression that this movie is going to be way more about thinking as men do. So, you know: sex, beer, sports, whatevs.
Brown is one of four men starring in the film (which also includes less punch-happy actors like Michael Ealy, Kevin Hart, and Jerry Ferrara), who will work opposite such regularly available female actresses like Gabrielle Union and Regina Hall.
Harvey's book has sold something like a million copies, and is designed to tell women how to, well, act like a lady while thinking like a man. It essentially sounds rooted in the same kind of "men are dogs, here's how to appeal to that kind of thing!" misogyny that only Nancy pants liberal bloggers like myself think is kind of antiquated and dumb, and the movie is actually going to be about the women using the book to help their relationships with men...like Chris Brown.
People had no issue going to see Chris Brown in Takers last year, but something about him romancing women on screen feels roughly equivalent to Mel Gibson starring as a Rabbi giving marriage advice to women with sugary tits. Maybe just not quite appropriate, you know?

Wait he's still a thing?
Zing indeed. God damn, I love you, Alex.
Cause when I think romantic, I think Chris Brown.
Sounds like an all-round awful project.
I missed your bylines, Alex.
I think it's weird that people hate Mel Gibson and Michael Richards for saying mean words but Chris Brown gets a pass even though everybody's seen the physical evidence of his wrong doing.
Hey is that the guy who sang the thong song?
Chris Brown?
Hate him,
It's crazy how he still has a career. Boooo you Chris Brown, Booooo.
At first glance I thought it said that someone had the balls to cast Chris Brown in a Castlevania movie. I would totally watch that shit.
@seanfoster:
Dr. Dre savagely assaulted a woman in the 90's and is now the face of Dr. Pepper and Monster.
I bet whoever his co-star is will be a real knocked-out.
Dr. Dre made much better music.
2nded
yeah but now Rihanna's writing fun songs about murdering men who abused her so you could say at least something good came out of Chris' facade of being a good person slipping
and not to mention Director Victor Salva molested one of his actors, a 12 year old boy and videotaped it.
He's still making movies. We live in a twisted world where famous people can do bad things and still get benefits.
