Part two of the Kathleen Kennedy/George Lucas news series was released late on Friday and, this has now been set up as weekly video series at StarWars.com that will keep fans updated on the progress of the films as they go into pre-production under the new Disney/Lucasfilm deal.
I like the idea of keeping fans involved, but why is everyone so low energy in this round-table? George Lucas looks like he someone off-screen is holding a gun to his head and making him participate.
Nonetheless, it has been revealed that Michael Arndt has now been confirmed as the writer for Star Wars: Episode VII, which will be released in 2015. Arndt is best known for his work on Little Miss Sunshine and Toy Story 3. As, I have said, I am in no way a Star Wars aficionado and will leave most opinions for you guys to discuss, but with Arndt's recent career, this feels like a very fresh and interesting choice. More than anything, I'm just happy they didn't decide on Damon Lindelof. I also like that Arndt has such a great track with writing interesting characters and hope that he will be able to develop them in a great new entry in the series. It is rumored that he has already written a treatment, and in it Luke and Leia Skywalker and Has Solo appear in some capacity. That is all a rumor, but would make this nostalgic girl happy if it were true.
Rumors are flying about who will direct, but no real word yet.
