Teaser 2: The Master

The Hopelessly Inquisitive Master Finally Shows Up

Here we have a second teaser for The Master, and this time we see more than just Joaquin Phoenix. And by more, I mean we see some Philip Seymour Hoffman and a glimpse of Amy Adams. Paul Thomas Anderson has created a lot of controversy after reports that the story is a fictional telling of the story of L. Ron Hubbard creating Scientology in the 1950s. However, I'm not sure whether that is true or not, but either way the film looks absolutely riveting. I certainly know I have been waiting for a new P.T. Anderson movie since There Will Be Blood in 2007 and I'm hoping he won't disappoint. Please?

Even though these trailers are shit, The Master is probably my most anticipated film of the year.

I'm not very interested in this movie. These trailers though are really well done. For some reason I'm getting a Billy Bob Thorton Sling Blade vibe from Joaquin Phoenix.

Thrilling! I just can not wait for this one.

Also, it's a bit irresponsible to further the baseless rumors that this is a film about Scientology.

It clear that there are overlaps, but the vital fact is that the Hoffman character in this flick is simply inspired by Hubbard and the situations around the creation of his religion. That means Lancaster Dodd in this movie his own person, and the connections end there. PTA didn't want to make a Hubbard Bio-pic, or some Oliver Stone-esque indictment of Scientology. He just got an idea that was inspired by this other person.

This movie's press should be about it's quality, not some manufactured controversy.

Odd, I'm getting an error on the clip. It appears to be marked as private.

What!? I think these trailers are great!

Joaquin Pheonix's performance in particular made a big impact on me.
