Little girl goes from orphan to hiding from Nazis, not much of an upgrade. Then again getting Geoffrey Rush as your adoptive father is a pretty good deal. Not sure why exactly her parents decide to take in one man to protect for the entire war or why books are so important to the little girl. This is an obvious shot at an Oscar but it seems to have some heart and some earnest attempts at telling a good story. Hopefully it doesn't rely too much on the acting of Sophie Nelisse since kids sometimes can't act well at all.
