If you thought Angelina Jolie playing Colin Farrell’s Mom in Alexander was… really weird, get ready for Justin Timberlake as Olivia Wilde's son. The Wrap’s revealed that House-doctor-and-soon-to-be- Tron-computer-program has joined the cast of Andrew Niccol’s next movie, which is now nameless now that the title I’m.Mortal has been dropped (presumably after a fine from the grammar police.)
So are they going to drop a gray wig on Ms. Wilde and cover her with five pounds of wrinkly make-up? Thankfully no. The former I’m.Mortal’s about a future where everybody stops aging at 25. Because of that, “time” becomes a commodity that's bought and sold to preserve lives. Timberlake’s character goes on the run from a police force of "time keepers" when he comes into a big score of time--seemingly after he killed a long-lived mogul. The cast also includes Amanda Seyfried and Cillian Murphy.
Andrew Niccol, in my mind, has to be the single most underrated talent in the business. He made one of my-all-time favorite movies, the infinitely-inspirational Gattaca, yet he still has hard time getting his projects off the ground (remember that Dali biopic with Al Pacino?) I hope this one will finally hop him over that hurdle.
