Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, Cobra fans of all ages, the day is upon us! Our first edition of The Screening Room is finally here, and I couldn't be more excited for it.
In case you missed our announcement last week, here's a quick reiteration. Hopefully at some point in the last week (or over the course of your life) you acquired a copy of Cobra. If you haven't watched it lately, do so! Or, you can watch alongside us today at 4PM PST, right here in this thread (we'll replace the trailer with the stream window), as Rorie and I will be live-streaming us watching Cobra. No, we are not broadcasting the movie. That would be sort of sketchy. But if you sync up your DVD watching with our commentary, it's like we're right there with you!
So just to be absolutely clear about this: WE ARE NOT BROADCASTING COBRA. Bring your own Cobra to this party!
None of this is necessary, mind you. The real thing is just that we want you to watch Cobra along with the rest of the community, and discuss every facet of this fascinating piece of social commentary on law enforcement, the degeneration of moral society, and the best methods for cutting pizza.
In order to get the discussion off and kicked, I hereby pose some suggestions for topics to discuss regarding this remarkable film:
- What are your three favorite Cobra moments? These can be scenes, quotes, blank Sylvester Stallone stares, whatever!
- Given that all '80s action movies are destined to eventually come true, what will you do when an anarchic society of serial killers begins to take over your town?
- Does Cobra feature the best '80s-era montage sequence you'll ever see, or what?
- Brigitte Nielsen: Worth saving? Or do you wish the Night Stalker had straight up shanked her?
- Do movies like Cobra make you wish that actual police work involved more lone-wolf action heroism and reckless explosions? I know I sure do.
Just some suggestions, as I said, but by all means, let's get to chatting, and celebrate the magic that is Cobra! Can't wait!
UPDATE:
Dudes! It's over! Thank you so very much for watching alongside us. Rorie and I had a blast.
The archived vid is now up on this here page, and in case you missed it, the movie for next week shall be...
That's right! Fletch! My absolute favorite Chevy Chase comedy. Gonna be a fun one!
Anyway, now that the stream is over, by all means, let us continue to discuss the pros and the cons of Cobra. There's so much to talk about!

2) The lady falls for Cobra because of the lame jokes he makes about the amount of ketchup she uses on her french fries.
3) He lights a dude on fire after declaring said dude has "the right to remain silent!"
These are moments that establish Cobra as one of the greatest cinematic achievements of all time.
How is Cobra not on instant netflix?
We think of it more like a book club for movies, that also happens to involve a live stream. We just want to get everyone together and watch a movie each week, you know?
Is there anything more evil? I mean, you can stab all the people you want, but impeding on the conveniences afforded to the handicapped? That's reprehensible!
I only seen it once when I was younger but down for watching it again.
It's also funny how he's just a tough character, yet looks remarkably baby faced.
Even if you miss the live stream, watch the movie when you get a chance. We'll be talking Cobra all week long, until next week's movie!
I do believe so, yes.
"...I used everything I had."
Brilliant way to intro a movie and a character, why were no more ever made? He had everything going for him!
Also was this movie sponsored by Pepsi or is that just the 80's shining through?
At least I remember watching it on Netflix a couple of times.
