I'm gettin' too old for this stitch.
As you saw here on Screened earlier in the day,
Dick Wolf has officially declared
Law & Order dead and buried. But with so many spin-offs and an astounding twenty seasons of stories it is by no means dead in our hearts, let alone the nation's art community. Case in point, artist
Brandon Bird recently curated a show at Los Angeles' Gallery Meltdown called "
These Are Their Stories" featuring
Law & Order-themed work from a plethora of artists whose inspiration was the single-line episode synopses from DirecTV's listings for that show. The results, whether painted, sketched, photographed, stitched or sculpted, were pure magic.
This show unfortunately closed Friday, July 30, but reminded me strongly of the
Crazy 4 Cult collection from a couple months ago. If you're like me and didn't make it because you accidentally washed your tux with the whites and lost your platinum credit cards while frolicking merrily in the vineyards, don't worry, I've collected much of the artwork in a gallery below for your perusal. Check
here to see which piece corresponds to which one-line synopsis.
They are!
Awesome in every sense of the word.
