Trailer 2: Cloud Atlas

A simpler, shorter trailer for Cloud Atlas still manages to be epic and stunning

The new theatrical trailer for the ambitious adaptation of the Dave Mitchell novel Cloud Atlas has made its way online. It is a lot shorter, and I'm not sure if it displays the astounding scope of the film as well as the first 5 minute preview did. However, it still looks pretty damned epic and I am fascinated to see what the Wachowski siblings and Tom Tykwer accomplished with this film.

With this trailer, I'm not sure that we can say more is clear about what the story actually is, but we get a better indication about the characters and themes.

This trailer has me waaaay more interested in this movie than the 5 minute preview. Having looked up the book things make a bit more sense now. Tom Hanks with an eye patch could be interesting.

This film will be too high concept for a regular move-going audience to take in, I sense this film is going to bomb and bomb BADLY.

WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS MOVIE ABOUT?!

Hell, I even went to the Wikipedia for it...and even THAT didn't goddamn help.

"an epic story of humankind in which the actions and consequences of our lives impact one another throughout the past, present, and future as one soul is shaped from a murderer into a savior and a single act of kindness ripples out for centuries to inspire a revolution."

......WHAT?! So it's The Fountain?

sickVisionzon Sept. 12, 2012 at 7:33 a.m.

I hope this doesn't suck. The concept seems cool but some of the dialog seems cheesy and hokey and in all honesty, I've thought that the W-siblings made or slapped their name on post-Matrix has been either mediocre or flat out terrible.

Dig Deeper into Cloud Atlas

A film adaptation from a novel with the same name. The film is considered one of the most expensive independent films to date with most of it's budget coming from many different sources. The film follows different stories across time and how simple actions of kindness can have profound effects.
