Trailer 2: Paranormal Activity 4

Wait, wait, I'm confused. Are we supposed to be scared now?

While I found the first trailer for Paranormal Activity 4 to be somewhat creepy and interesting, this one felt downright laughable. First of all, I would like to know where they found this cast of characters that feel so low-rent I can't imagine believing anything they do. Also, while I want to say that I am now creeped out to play XBox Kinect because it could be possessed by a demon, this just looks rad and fun!

Apparently, Paranormal Activity 4 will wrap up some stories from the first three films, but there is no word if this will actually be the conclusion or just open the door for more. It will be released in theaters on October 19th, just in time for Hallow's Eve.

Thoughts?

  • Damien from The Omen makes his return in a new body.
  • People who have a fetish for dragging women across the floor will get a kick out of this.
  • Microsoft is really trying to push the Kinect. I look forward to the Kinect plug in Pirates of the Caribbean 6.
  • When the girl is lifted into the air, her arm is twitching slightly. Nice.

Looks about on par with the rest of the series to me. Which is to say, perfectly fine. I've never found these to be particularly scary, but nothing about this seems worse than the last 3 either.

I think i'm going to watch Sinister instead.

I thought the Kinect was already possessed by a demon that causes it to not work properly.

That wasn't all that scary which is odd for the PA series. Normally those trailers just make me loath seeing them with my friends. This one had to many cuts in it. Using a webcam as the camera could be interesting.

I liked the first 3, but this one doesn't even feel like a PA movie.

I think the Kinect thing is kind of a cool idea. That being said, this feels like a bad trailer more than anything. I feel like you could cut together this trailer for any of the other PA movies and I loved all of those.

I still have yet to see the third one, but this looks to be a similar continuation in the series. I do wonder if that was Katie in the shadows at the end. I'm guessing this makes less money than the last one, but will still pull a profit for PA5 in 2013.

You know a series has jumped the shark when they add a kid.

This and SInsister, can't wait.
