I would say that oftentimes we forget about some of the most important parts of films that are created beyond what is projected on the screen. An amazing film poster can make you stop on the side of a street and really make you want to see a movie. However, the only names we usually have associated with a movie are those of the big name actors and directors. This documentary serves to change that, as it tells the story of Drew Strunzan who has created some of the most beautiful and effective posters in cinema. The film contains interviews with Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Michael J. Fox among others. It is even more stunning that Strunzan has created most of his posters by drawing and illustrating them by hand.
The trailer was previewed at Comic-Con last weekend, but the film doesn't have a release date yet. However, I am hoping if we spread the word and create a demand, it will get one soon. For anyone who truly just loves film, I believe it is important to recognize and appreciate all aspects of it, and especially to honor someone who has created so many iconic images of film history.
