Liking the doc-style filming... makes it feel "REAL real." (I guess this means real?)
Writer/director, David Ayer (Training Day and The Fast and the Furious) brings us yet another "the streets of Los Angeles are rough" flick. I clearly don't troll the right neighborhoods, I have seen my fair share of bar brawls and Venice Beach "gangs," but I'm apparently missing out on all the gritty LA action. Luckily I've got Ayer to fill me in on the dangerous city I call home. This'll be good.

Wow, that actually looks really good. Incorporating the "real-world footage" from the cop car camera and stuff almost seems unnecessary, and I hope it's not used too much because I feel like it would make you way too aware of the editing, thus taking you out of the experience. Still, that was pretty fucking intense for a trailer.
Also loved the way that parts of it were cut to the rhythm of the song. Very well done.
When I saw this trailer before Avengers I was initially skeptical. When it was over though I was interested I'm not sure if I like the "real" shaky cam aspect of it but the Gyllenhaal Pena stuff has me interested.
I think I've seen this type of movie before. Oh wait, David Ayer. So this, Training Day and Harsh Times are practically the exact same movie. Why is he making the same movie three times?
I like this. Just don't fuck with the cartels, thats all guys c'mon.
Inetersting!
You obviously ARE missing all the "action", which is a good thing given the amount of Sureno/Norteno/La Eme crap that happens in L.A. and Southern Cali in general. Hell, I live in Waco, TX...and as I'm typing this, there is probably someone being sold through human trafficking a couple of houses down.
Nonetheless, I'm curious whether this flick generalizes the cartels or actually get into some of the crazy specifics like the El Truco and such from Salvador, Sureno, Norteno, La Eme, and the sort. Moreover, the documentary style looks pretty good. It's not super shaky cam, but it's got that visceral vibe to it that comes along with a show like COPS.
I'm interested.
Huh, this could be really good. Training Day was great and I think this is another unique look at the otherwise underwhelming cop story. I thought it could take a turn with the main characters ala The Shield but it looks like these guys are on the right path.
