If I were to think about casting Alfred Hitchcock, I'm not sure that I could think of anyone more perfect than Anthony Hopkins to play the role. I think this movie looks like a pretty fascinating look at the life of one of the best suspense horror directors to have worked in cinema. However, there is a part of me that is not sure if I want to know the story behind his movies. I love Psycho and most of Hitchcock's films, and am afraid this might unveil some things about the enigmatic man that I don't want to know.
Am I alone here? Thoughts?

I just want to know what happened to the guy's belly button.
I'm more of a Rope fan myself. I can't shake the feeling that ,despite the really good cast, that it just won't make for an interesting movie. Maybe a really interesting book but as a movie maybe not so much.
I don't think I can get past the makeup, to be honest.
was PSYCHO really all that risque, even for it's time? It came out in 1960. Im pretty sure there was violence and nudity at that scale in movies before then. Were people really shocked by it as this movie suggests?
Also, I read that in an interview in the 70s Hitchcock said he couldn't even recall if he had read the book PSYCHO was based on or not.
As someone who hates Anthony Hopkins but loves Alfred Hitchcock, I've been torn on how I would feel when the first trailer for this film would hit.
Now, I'm seeing it the minute it hits theaters. That was a good trailer, and Anthony plays the macabre sense of humor Hitchcock PERFECTLY!
Count me in.
@VioletEyedDragon: The real risque thing Psycho did was kill its main star Vera Miles, who is sold to audiences as the star thus the reason to go, and killing her off halfway through the movie. You don't just kill your biggest name halfway through.

yeah that was pretty bold.
This looks really good. It's interesting to have Hopkins disappearing and reappearing throughout the trailer.
This is a risky task, making a movie about a movie being made, albeit one of the most famous ones. I must admit that even though I attempted to do a project on Hitchcock in high school, I have no real idea of who this man is and how his mind worked. I could say that because of that ignorance I am interested, but most movies are made to entertain, not inform. I had no clue about the life of Jim Morrison when watching The Doors, and today I know it as incredibly inaccurate.
Rambling aside, the biopic is always a troublesome sub-genre, mixing fact and fiction to get the filmmaker's message across about this individual and the era he was involved in. For now, I will give massive props to Sir Hopkins, over 70 years old and putting on a fat suit to portray one of the greatest directors. Thinking about it, didn't he also portray Picasso?
