It's been 11 years since the original Monsters, Inc. was released in theaters. Now we finally get a follow-up in the form of a pre-quel. In Monsters University, we revisit our friends Sully, Mike and the gang of Monsters. However, this time we hang with them in college. Could this be Animal House for the animated genre? I'm so there.
Four teasers were released today, each with Mike muttering something different in his sleep. The one posted here is my favorite. I love this trailer so much that I'm going to smile a lot after seeing it.

I would rather like to see an Incredibles sequel.
generally not a fan of prequels, but it IS Pixar.
Monsters Inc was an OK Pixar movie this could be interesting if they play with the college aspect. Where is my Incredibles sequel....seriously where is it?
Normally I'd say that I would want Pixar to do more original movies than sequels, but seeing the early reviews for Brave makes me a nervous a little bit. Perhaps a sequel is best for now.
WOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
I'm not usually one to complain about how another flick in a sequel effects previous ones, but I'm very against adding to this universe.
The final shot in Monsters Inc. was one of the most subtle, significant, and beautiful moments in the Pixar canon, which wrapped that wonderful flick up in the perfect bow.
The importance of that film was all about the two Monsters learning from a human child, and it comes to a satisfying and conclusive climax. Without that it looses all meaning.
I really hope that this one is as great as it could be, but I can't help feeling like it's as if they just tore that box open again and left the perfect old wrapping crumpled up in a ball on the floor.
I didn't care for Monsters Inc., and this doesn't look like it will make me care for it either. I didn't find anything adorable or funny about this one bit. Meanwhile, everything I see for Brave has me happy with anticipation.
I guess I just have a different idea of what I want to see from Pixar than others. Also, the reviews for Brave are at 82% Top Critics on Rotten Tomatoes. I don't see how that is a bad thing. Right...because it's not above 90%.
Monsters Inc is my favorite Pixar film, but honestly this has me a little worried. I'm fine with prequels, but I don't think we need one for Monsters Inc at all, and after Disney made them make a sequel to Cars for the money, it makes me curious as to why this film might be coming out. But hey, just saying I'm cautious, could be great.
I look at Brave and I look and this and all I can think is this: Pixar is devolving into Dreamworks.
@twelve1784: Do you not have a soul though? This looks cool :)
Monsters Inc is my second favourite Pixar film and while a sequel was quite unnecessary, this trailer has me hyped up for it.
Brilliant stuff.
So much negativity, here. I'll tell you, this trailer has me far more optimistic for the film's quality chances than literally anything I've seen of Brave. I can't wait!
@twelve1784: How though? Please back that up with something.
The qualitative difference between the two studios is astronomical.
I'm not excited for Brave but you better believe I am going to see it. They have yet to make a bad movie and I will completely stand by that. Have some movies been less good than others? Absolutely, but no bad movies.
The original was excellent, but this looks interesting so far.
@MrMazz: If they do a sequel they better bring back Lucius
As with Shrek and Ice Age, the original films were amazing, then it was downhill from there. I think however that the writing may save this one
