Michael Bay has been making Transformers movies since 2007. That will make it seven years since he has released a movie that doesn't have to do with robots and Shia LaBeouf's pretty curly hair. This will also mark the first time in that long that he has released a movie that has less than a $100 million budget. It will be interesting to see what the director can do with a more character than effects driven film. Very curious to see what he can do with that.
The opening image makes me laugh, but the fact that this is reported to have the same tone as a Coen Brothers movie leaves me scratching my head. I feel like the fact that it is so true to life (and actually based on a true story of a bunch of Miami muscle jocks who pull off a heist) will be the charm of the film, but if you don't know that world, well, not sure if it will do much.
I could also be tired and way off base here and it looks amazing. Thoughts?
