This couldn't be a more brilliant marketing campaign. I hit play with the sound off initially and for the first few seconds, I legitimately thought I was watching an ad before the trailer came on. The whole thing's just too creepily real. That's not to say I don't love it. You can also now "unlock one of David's emotions" by going to http://projectprometheus.com/

I can't wait for this movie.
Posted this like 6 hours ago. Oh well. Here's what I had to say then:
Wow. This brilliant little glimpse gives us a surprisingly deep look into the world of Prometheus. The tone and style give off a unique sense of sterility that we aren't used to in the Alien universe. Whereas we've had plenty of dirty, shit-talking, miners, marines, prisoners, etc. here we have a polite, "gentle", new character. We're clearly planted in prequel territory, showing a world where perhaps deep space travel and these new amazing technologies are pristine and awe-inspiring, before having been sullied with the mundaneness of work.
We also clearly see that David is still in line with what we know about the android characters from the other Alien films. He seems to have the capacity for free thought and will, but his "separation" from humans may allow him to act in potentially dangerous ways. In his own words, "I can carry out directives that my human counterparts might find... distressing or... unethical."
Good stuff. But it also reinforces the one thing that makes me nervous about this flick; that this is just a polished version of Alien. We've done the android-who-might-be-bad-but-then-oh-wait-he's-good thing many times over. The shock is gone. And while seeing that gross white stuff pumped into David gives us all some huge nostalgia boners, I worry that retreading the elements we all know might lessen this potentially amazing effort.
Looks cool, This really could be the film that brings Ridley Scott back into the big leagues after the recent average fare he's been making.
Not to mention Michael Fassbender seems perfect for this role, he reminds me of T.E. Lawrence, but then again Peter Weyland says he loves Lawrence in his video so I don't think it's a coincedence.
Man, just hire Gangly... he is on top of it.
David's apparently "powered by Verison Fios." Good to know that Verison still exists in the future.
Also, the Weyland page on David's emotions is really creepy.
There is a certain "fully retard" or "full robot" quality to that. It's just distant enough that you know this guy isn't human but sounds human and the tears were a nice touch. This reminded me of a creepy Apple commercial.
Mackwahl, it is difficult to express my frustration at the lack of hot links in your post. We, the great internet nation, are lazy. Copy/pasting or dragging the text to the address bar is far too big of a hassle. Please keep this in mind for the future :P
This is so fantastic. I love when games and film try to immerse you into their worlds, and I could hardly think of a better franchise than the Alien universe. I'm very excited about Prometheus. You know, they should really think about putting this out on TV as a commercial. People would stop doing what they're doing and say "What the hell is this?"
This stuff is awesome. I'm really looking forward to seeing this movie.
@gangly: I don't see them using the android as a pivotal role as he was in the other movies. He's just going to be present. I don't see them reusing the same tactic in a slightly different way this time around. Or maybe that's just me hoping they don't go that route.
Also have all these promo vids had unusually long black timespans at the end of their videos? Didn't the TED one have that too, Is there something to this? It's weird.

Wow you're right, who just pastes URL without making them links? That's bizarre nowadays, even being such a little thing.

Maybe if we all keep hoping reeeal hard, it'll magically make these characters at least slightly different from their counterparts in all the other flicks.
@Sandor: I completely agree. Total accident... it's now hyperlinked. Thanks.
This is going to end well.
