Well, that didn't take long. We got a poster and some news on Monday, now we have an international trailer for Taken 2. It is kind of funny to me that Liam Neeson became an action star because before, I always thought of him as the serious actor from Love Actually and Schindler's List. Now, after the first one, he has become the "you don't want to fuck with me" guy for any character over the age of 40. Not that I'm complaining, I would be happy to see him in anything.
In Taken 2 it looks like Bryan Mills once again says "bring it on bitches," and he will be doing what he does best…rescuing and killing people. I'm glad we got a little update that he will also be kidnapped, because this trailer would make me a little nervous that we are supposed to buy that another one of his family members (his wife this time) just "happened" to be kidnapped again.
NOTE: I apologize if you get any ads on this, but it was the best version I could find. I assure you we are working on it so we don't have to post YouTube links, but not fixed yet.

Pistol Muzzle Flash: The Movie
I haven't seen the first taken, so I'm not judging, but this reminded me of the annoying second season of 24 where all of a sudden we have to watch Bower's daughter in all sorts of pointless action scenes instead of getting the main action that we want. Although maybe the added peril means the chick from LOST will actually die in this one. Fingers crossed!!!
Is Mackwahl on vaction or something? Haven't seen his byline in a while.
So, the way they are going to get revenge on him for killing their people when he was saving his kidnapped daughter is to is to kidnap his wife and daughter. This particular group of bad guys don't seem to grasp the concept of pattern recognition.
In star wars Episode I, Queen Amadala should have been "Taken" and the whole movie should have been Qui Gon trying to get her back. Might have made it a good movie.
Geez, that was a terribly edited trailer. I enjoyed the first movie, but this seems a bit far fetched. I mean, if you kidnap someone's daughter, what do you expect them to do? It's like someone who stole something from someone getting made when that person comes over and steals it back. Oh well. Not that interested in this.
First movie take the daughter. Second movie take the daughter and the mother. Eh it's all pretty dumb but Liam Neeson being a BAMF and dropping bodies will be extremely watchable. I wonder though how much cultural cache Taken has left it came out 3 years ago. If it came out a year ago I'd feel like it was a lot better chance to make money.
What worries me is where it says "directed by Olivier Megaton." It doesn't mean it won't be good, just puts moderately sized chunk of doubt in my mind.

Ok, I'm gonna be that guy and point out it was Jack Bauer, not Bower. Sorry...
In any event, you should see the first Taken. It was definitely a surprise hit and Liam Neeson fits into the role quite nicely. I like how his career has changed over the years. I'm sure he could still do a great dramatic role but It's fun to watch him beat the living crap out of guys for a couple of hours.
I don't know why but I love that basically the idea behind this movie is "Hey you know all those goons that the hero always kills in every action movie? Well they have family members, and they're pissed."
I was all good up the point where he said "Your mother's been Taken."
Probs will fine with Neeson, but I feel from this trailer that this sequel is banking hard on Neeson being a BAMF
Wow that wasn't very interesting...like at all...I know it is to early to judge and I'm being a total douche for even thinking this but it looks like they're trading in the gritty and horrifying Paris underground for almost cartoonish looking bad guys...
I liked Taken not just on the great action movie level but on the fact that the threat is so well characterized as this horrible sex trade that could happen in real life, it gave a tension to the whole thing that I don't see in this... of course this does seem like a poor trailer and not very indicative of the final product...whatever I'm just skeptical...
Looks alright. I like how they tie it to the first movie, the whole actions having consequences thing seems cool. Bit cheesy having Liam Neeson say "Your mother is about to be taken" but I'll give them a pass this time since the first movie was so good.
@MrMazz: They come for him and him only. They kidnap the mom and hold her hostage. He and his daughter work together to get mom back and kill everyone involved for good. I think it's a great follow up. He killed all these high level people, why wouldn't they come get him.
For action crap fluff the first one was meh and this looks to be more of the same. Not the meh is bad...its actually a pretty good rating for this genre. So if this movie does well can we expect "Taken3 - Give Me Back My Wheelchair".
I was good up until "What are you going to do?" "What I do best"

Don't you mean Tak3n?
If they take the Die Hard approach I'm all in for it, turn your mind off to the plot and just enjoy a good action flick. I they do a third the should make it during Christmas....because every good action movie series needs one set in Christmas
