After the recent and shocking death of star Paul Walker it comes as no shock that the upcoming 7th Fast and the Furious movie has been put on hiatus. There was no date put to pick production back up but this will certainly push back the original July 11th, 2014 release date. Universal sent out a statement with the delay:
"Right now, all of us at Universal are dedicated to providing support to Paul's immediate family and our extended Fast & Furious family of cast, crew and filmmakers. At this time we feel it is our responsibility to shut down production on Fast & Furious 7 for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise. We are committed to keeping Fast & Furious fans informed, and we will provide further information to them when we have it. Until then, we know they join us in mourning the passing of our dear friend Paul Walker."
The word through the grapevine suggests filming was a bit over halfway done but Walker's scene weren't finish and the film will possibly need to be rewritten and/or reshot. I can't imagine this franchise continues on past 7 and would completely understand if 7 never made it to theaters. Even I am still shocked and upset over the loss of Walker simply because it was unbelievable and sudden. I'd love to see the franchise continue but Walker adding something fun to his scenes and character that would be sorely missed.
