...rather than Screened themselves putting together a video.

Why am I still coming to this site? = (

@jakob187: This is part of CineFix that is a BermanBraun YouTube channel that we have an association with as I explained in the forums.

@staceywi: Do you have any plans for original video content? This site will eventually die out if you don't start putting out content.

staceywi staff on Nov. 2, 2012 at 9:40 a.m.

@DjCmeP: You can read the post about this current Screened Video Content here. I also am happy to say that the numbers for the site are still in high and have not decreased significantly, so it should be around for awhile.

jakob187on Nov. 2, 2012 at 11:25 a.m.

@staceywi: I understand that, but it's not the reason I have come to Screened all this time. I think you've done a good job with what you've been able to work with so far, but let's all be honest here: this place feels like a mausoleum. The numbers may not have fallen significantly, but that could very easily be because people are coming back to see if Screened has finally become its own entity again. I just look at the progress that BermanBraun has made with Tested...and then I look at Screened and Anime Vice... It just seems like they are the red-headed stepchildren.

Original Screened-exclusive video content, podcasts, and interesting features were the reason I came to this site, and sure, Alex and Rorie as personalities brought me here as well. That doesn't mean there aren't just as good personalities to be brought in. However, I couldn't even tell you who the staff of this site is beyond you and Matt. Is Matt even staff? This place just feels like a freelance dumping place now. Look at the Staff page on the website itself. Anna Hurka-Robles is still listed as a staff member, and she left Whiskey Media ages ago! Sara Lima, Jeff Gerstmann, and others that aren't even affiliated with BermanBraun are still listed as staff members.

I understand if all this seems mean or harsh, and it's not meant to be that way. I'm trying to be as constructive as possible, but it's difficult when I realize that it's been a little under eight months since Screened transitioned to BermanBraun. Trailers are regularly posted...but through the means of other movie sites and such posting them on YouTube or Apple Trailers. Reviews are written...but half of them are from someone at a different website that shares them here. The one thing that has remained consistent is the community delivering their stellar work in both the wiki and other content, even going so far as litrock helping with reviews on the site.

Nonetheless, can you honestly agree that Screened is an actual website entity of its own doing, or is it just becoming a dumping ground for BermanBraun to throw everything else? This CineFix YouTube channel that you mentioned... Couldn't that have been something for Screened itself? Here is this expansive website to do video content on, and they chose to use a YouTube channel instead? It just seems...I don't know, backwards. Doesn't the Whiskey API and such already have the ability to capture video and use the site's own player for that content? I mean, right now, the comment I'm leaving is on a video featuring someone from Rotten Tomatoes, a completely different movie website.

Right now, the strongest assets that I personally as a website viewer see are Matt's articles recalling old films and seeing how they hold up (those articles are FANTASTIC), the reviews from litrock (which are no longer happening), and the community's capability to fill up a wiki with tons of useful knowledge and info. No offense to you, but even the news can take a bit of time to pop up on the site. I understand that you have more than Screened to do, but doesn't this website deserve to have some attention paid to it rather than what it currently gets?

Just a bunch of thoughts. I've loved this site since it launched, but I have to say what many are thinking eight months later.

Where is the future of this site? Why should we stay here rather than go to "rival movie website"?

staceywi staff on Nov. 2, 2012 at 12:35 p.m.

@jakob187: I understand your concerns and I know it its not the same site that it once was, but that also needs to be kept in mind. I am really trying to focus on the community aspect of the Screened, as I think that is what makes it great. I have joined the community Pupcast and will be doing so again in the future. FinalDasa and soon PatVB are also contributing front page articles.

I am also working on other features that will be longer and more interesting. There are many in addition to Matt F's, and although they might not interest you, they have been incredibly well received. The site is a place for people to read about and talk about film and television shows that they love and/or hate - especially within a community they have gotten to know. This is one the reasons I have added more television recaps, and do a daily What to Watch.

As for trailers, they have always been posted to the site, but just were ripped with equipment that we no longer have due to the split. They were never exclusive to Screened.

We have decided to partner with CineFix and that is how we are currently creating video on the site.

The site is still going through transformation and I am very thankful to the users who have been incredibly dedicated and supportive through this time, as there have been a great group of them.
