According to Deadline, Viggo Mortensen and Amy Adams have joined the cast of On The Road. Francis Ford Coppola is producing this film adaptation of Jack Kerouac's Beat novel, and in fact has been trying to get it made for over 30 years now.

Directed by Walter Salles and written by Jose Rivera (who last collaborated on The Motorcycle Diaries), On the Road follows Jack Kerouac's journey of self-realization across North America with his friend Neil Cassady.

Adams plays the role of Jane, the junkie mother of two kids married to Mortensen's Old Bull Lee. They join the previously announced cast of Kirsten Dunst, Kristen Stewart, Sam Riley, and Garrett Hedlund. This will be one to keep an eye on.

Love Viggo, almost every movie that he is in seems to turn out well.

This is an understatement.

I can't believe how amazing Viggo is, and the top-players he gets himself associated with.

oh, and On The Road is The Great American Novel, up there with Moby Dick.  I love Kerouac.  I'm more partial towards the Dharma Bums, but On The Road will do, hehehe

One cannot merely go on a road trip into Mordor!

Viggo could do this movie well.  But somehow I feel this is a movie we don't need?  Am I crazy?  I loved this book when I was in college and as a young dude it totally influence my travel and writing habits.

Saying that Im looking forward to seeing Franco in Howl

I enthusiastically agree with you Ethan, but in all honesty, I am hopeful that this will simply be an adaptation and nothing more and moreover, a chance for others to pick up the book and read, read, read.

Howl: yeah…me too.

Viggo Mortensen to star in On The Road...not to be confused with his latest role in, The Road...this a sequel or somethin'?

Will his next movie be, On The Road Again? A Willie Nelson Biopic?

I could have sworn that was Cary Elwes in that picture above the article.
