Unique isn't a word often thought of when staring at a movie poster. Blackbird stands apart as something I'd expect to see on a novel sitting in a book store rather than in my theater's lobby. I'm already interested and almost just willing to see this on the poster alone...almost. More than likely I'll look into it before blindly buying a ticket.
Nic Cage, in a beard, behold! I always root for Nic Cage because unlike a lot of actors he always seems willing to run out of his comfort zone as fast as he can. Sometimes that isn't a very good thing but who's complaining when even his "failures" are just so damn entertaining to watch. The man gives it his all.
I mainly included this because I instantly thought about the Oculus Rift. Even the tagline "you see what it wants you to see" sounds more like a horror game you would play with the Rift rather than an upcoming film. If you don't know much about the Rift, you should really Google some videos. I know both Tested, during their OctoberKast, and Giantbomb have done some videos on the device and it really looks amazing.
What happens often with working actors who pass away suddenly is the release of their last few films posthumously. You can't let those films just sit but studios also want those films out as quickly as possible to "cash in" on the publicity. It might be a cynical way at looking at things but no doubt that was at least a factor. Let's just hope this is at least as enjoyable as the Fast and Furious films.
