Making fun of medieval times isn't really that hard, doing so and actually being funny about it is much harder. Grabbing Peter Dinklage is a good first step but unless you intend to make Game of Thrones references throughout you'll need to do more. The key to all spoof movies is to have some reverence and love for what you're making fun of. Otherwise you comes across as a bully rather than a friend.
This Better Angels poster is the most award fishing poster you could possibly make. Black and white? Check. Minimalist? Check. Include a reference to a highly revered film festival? Check.
Not sure if I can handle that many Jake Gyllenhaal but I do like this poster. I like the stark colors which would help this stand out from other posters. The tag line "you can't escape yourself" makes me more interested in what this movie will be about. And while I am curious about this movie I still don't like that Gyllenhaal's name is more prominent at the top than the actual title of the film.
We end the first 2014 edition of the roundup with and old standby by now, Amazing Spider-Man 2. It's nice to see Electro in action and Spider-Man doing some in-air acrobatics. The longer the hype goes on the more suspicious and anxious I get for the film. The first Amazing Spider-Man had low expectations thanks to Spider-Man 3's terrible-ness and now the franchise is seemingly in a good place again. Hopefully this sequel can stand up under the weight of itself.
