It's almost a shame that Pacific Rim has to come out since it was a great source of pretty amazing movie posters. Whoever was putting these together deserves an award for understanding what makes a good poster. Especially when your movie is about giant robots fighting giant monsters. This one in particular reminds me of Evangelion more than any of the others and I'm ok with that.
The next poster is simplistic but says a lot. Captain America: Winter Soldier should be an interesting movie since the characters mostly came off as flat and uninteresting (in my opinion) in the first film. Maybe having Winter Soldier around will spice things up enough with a few deaths and kidnappings to make the characters have a dilemma or two besides the world being in peril.
Jobs is still a big question mark for me even after seeing the trailer which painted this picture as a Social Network wannabe. I'm afraid the portrait we get of Steve Jobs will be a whitewashed one presenting him as an unrealized genius with no faults. While I don't want a smear campaign of a movie I'd much rather have honesty than Kutcher acting like a smug smarty pants for 2 hours.
Next up is Frozen from Disney and, as the poster claims, from the same team as Tangled. I was dragged to see Tangled by a girl I was interested in and really enjoyed the movie. Frozen doesn't seem to follow the same formula (old fairy tale retold) but I do like the idea of more movies with female leads.
And finally we end things with this horrible Oldboy poster from the upcoming remake. While the trailer that came out this week, it's on our forums, this poster is horrendous looking. This was clearly passed along to someone who didn't know what Oldboy was and just slapped something together. Between the unrecognizable Brolin in the trunk and the stark imagery of the field (which has nothing to do with the plot) this poster doesn't serve the movie well. Hopefully word of mouth can do better than this poster can. Let's hope this remake is at least half as good as the original.
