This wouldn't have been the movie I would have bet on as an upcoming Martin Scorsese film. Okay so maybe any movie starring Leonardo Dicaprio has about a 50% chance of being directed by Scorsese but the trailers and these posters don't really portray the usual level of violence and mobster feel you get from his usual films. Change isn't always a bad thing when it comes to Scorsese though since his last film, which he made because his kids asked him to, was a real change of pace in Hugo.
I still do not know what to think about 47 Ronin. I have confidence in Reeves and I would really enjoy a movie that feels like 47 Ronin feels in the ramp up to it. However I've been tricked by the white man in a land of samurai before, namely The Last Samurai. Tom Cruise isn't Keanu Reeves but the same mistakes can be very easy to make. I guess time will tell and I'll continue to keep my fingers crossed with this one.
Sure, Escape Plan already came out and now we're waiting for this crazy movie to come to streaming but this poster is worth a look. Honestly this feels like some crazy film poster I'd see as a kid online and wonder what it was really for. I'd be all for this being used as the usual poster here in the US (I bet it would turn more heads) and just post the English title somewhere on the poster. It's not like people still look at movie posters in the theater right?
