Finally, TV is back on! Did everyone just wait for the Emmys to end in order to remind everyone how boring TV can really get? Or maybe now that Breaking Bad is almost over all these other shows feel like they have room to shine again. Either way it feels awesome to see how stacked TV is in the fall after a very lean summer. Tonight might not be the biggest night of the week but between established shows and new ones you could probably find something to watch. I just hope some of these new shows are worth the time.
What To Watch
8pm FOX: Brennan and Booth go undercover to investigate a murder while Sweets is thinking about leaving the FBI. I've only seen a few episodes of Bones but like that they made a police procedural with some personality and tone that sets itself out from other shows like it.
2. How I Met Your Mother
CBS 8pm: Starting with the season 9 premiere you get an hour dose of HIMYM tonight. They say this season you'll finally meet the mother but for me it's 3 or 4 seasons too late. Few shows get to continue along for 9 seasons and this got stale years ago. I hope they can pull it all together and leave gracefully.
3. Sleepy Hollow
FOX 9pm: A new show that takes the legend of the headless horseman and pushes him to modern day. Ichabod Crane has to team up with modern detectives to take down the horsemen himself before he can kill again. Seems interesting but I don't know if I could watch an entire series of people chasing after a man on a horse.
4. 2 Broke Girls
CBS 9pm: Season 3 begins for this mediocre comedy show that I'm sure CBS is happy exists since HIMYM and Big Bang are growing a bit old. I have successfully avoided anything from this show except the the occasional commercial and am going to keep it that way.
CBS 9:30pm: Another new show starting tonight. It comes from Chuck Lorre, the guy behind Big Bang Theory, and is about a recovering alcoholic daughter dealing with her overbearing mother. I really like Anna Faris and Allison Janney so I really hope this show has some bite to it.
CBS 10pm: A female surgeon is ready to operate on the President when a FBI agent takes her family hostage and says she will "accidentally" kill the president. The commercials have almost convinced to watch but it also seems to be trying too hard. The intrigue and drama seems forced rather than naturally occurring between characters. But maybe it has enough to push through this first season.
ABC 10pm: The sixth season starts and I slowly try and remember which show this is. Between this and Bones and I constantly get confused which is which. It doesn't help both have very similar set ups but how can you really forget Nathan Fillion?
