Another night with slim pickings. I've yet to decide if this season of The Real World will be one I watch a lot of or just keep an eye on from afar. The people on there don't seem as...insane as the last few seasons, but that doesn't make it any less horrible. The worst part is the Jersey Shore effect on the show, something that's been happening since before the Shore show aired. The people on the show just end up going to bars for most of an episode and generally acting drunk. I can do that on my own MTV, you aren't showing me anything new.
What To Watch
ABC 8pm/8:30pm: The new show on ABC gets an hour of new episodes tonight. It's about a single father bringing his 16 year old daughter to the suburbs and how she handles the shift from the big city. It's only in its first season but so far seems to be good. Anyone got into this show yet?
CBS 8pm: One of pillars of the modern reality show "movement" is still on the air somehow. This season features favorite former contestants versus fans of the show. So it seems the show has entered the weird void of turning in on itself.
|3. American Idol: The Search for a Superstar|
Fox 8pm: Even though newer shows like X Factor and The Voice have taken American Idol's thunder a bit the show still goes on. This one is live and is down to the top 5 finalists. I didn't even know another season had begun let alone had only 5 singers left.
CW 8pm: Repeat. Unfortunately this may just be the best thing on TV and it's a repeat. I still haven't tried this show out mainly because I'm not to into DC characters.
|5. The Real World|
MTV 10pm: Before this season of Real World premiered they ran marathon of all the previous Real World seasons. Watching how profound and thoughtful some of those first seasons were makes Portland seem like an ongoing episode of Jerry Springer. Still, for trashy TV you can't beat one of the original guilty pleasures.
