What To Watch: It's Sweeps Month, And That Means Everything's New

Including Archer! 30 Rock! And Person of Interest!

You know, I don't write much about ABC on Thursday nights, and that's because they almost always have the same trio of shows on: Wipeout, followed by Grey's Anatomy, followed by Private Practice. I used to have to watch the last ten minutes of Grey's Anatomy with my ex to ensure that we wouldn't miss the beginning of Lost, and holy mackeral was that ever the most emasculating ten minutes of television I've ever had to sit through. Nothing but beautiful nurses crying because their boyfriend was slightly mean to them. I guess Wipeout at least has people getting hit with blunt objects. That's kind of manly.

Anyway, NBC decided to cash in on the Shit **** Says meme with a little Liz Lemon mashup. I like it, how about you? I kinda wanna watch some 30 Rock now.

Archer

FX 10 PM: "The Royal Canadian Mounted Police enlist the help of ISIS to transport a Canadian terrorist." A Canadian terrorist? I'm guessing he probably tried to use maple syrup to disrupt a Canucks game, eh? Something about Molson beer, eh? Followed by a new episode of Unsupervised at 10:30.

30 Rock

NBC 8 PM: "Liz and Jack clash over her contract; Kenneth changes his page assignment; Tracy and Jenna get a job entertaining at a bar mitzvah." Wow, Tracy Jordon entertaining at a bar mitzvah? What's the over/under on horrific "If my kid was a Jew, I'd send him to a concentration camp" jokes? Followed by new episodes of Parks & Rec, The Office, and Up All Night.

The Big Bang Theory

CBS 8 PM: "Leonard starts to reconsider his friendship with Sheldon; Wolowitz tries to choose his astronaut nickname." Wolowitz winds up changing his name to Gingrich, as he keeps his finger in the political winds of the day. Followed by Rob at 8:30.

The Firm

NBC 10 PM: "Mitch discovers ulterior motives when a judge offers leniency for his client; Claire tries to convince her parents she needs a cell phone; Tammy and Ray continue working on the Sarah Holt case." The "Sarah Holt case," being, of course, synonymous for "how do we not get cancelled within the next two weeks since we're getting lower ratings than Univision." Too bad, I actually like Josh Lucas.

The Finder

Fox 9 PM: "Walter tries to help when Isabel's new boyfriend, a baseball star, is robbed; Leo and Walter bring Willa in on the case in hope of earning her trust." Willa, huh? I've never met a girl named Willa that I actually trusted, except maybe for Willa Cather, and even she was long since dead when I "met" her. In the forms of her writings, of course. Preceded by American Idol in St. Louis at 8 PM.

Person of Interest

CBS 9 PM: "Reese and Finch call on a former POI and Zoe to help when they learn that the latest POI may have been pushed to his breaking point by a string of bad luck." This is the vaguest possible description for a show that could ever be written. "Hey, this guy calls up another guy because another guy is feeling down." That's my amended description for tonight's episode. Followed by The Mentalist at 10 PM.

Can anyone confirm if Rob is as horrendous as it seems? I haven't really seen any coverage of the show since it came out, mocking or otherwise.

Linkster7on Feb. 2, 2012 at 12:13 p.m.

Parks and Rec, still the funniest show currently on tv. Can't wait.

"Boys becoming men!/Men becoming wolves!"

One of the funniest TV moments of all time.

Eh. I'm kinda getting sick of 30 Rock. Liz Lemon is just too dumb a character to hinge the whole show on. After so many seasons, how can she still make such dumb, self-imploding decisions that derail her life? Last week's episode seemed to indicate she FINALLY caught on to it, but....we'll see. It's a sitcom, so ...yeah, nothing will probably change. In general, following a 42 year old single lady is just kinda sad. Jack, Tracy and all the other secondary characters are always the best part of 30 Rock.

I might just play video games instead tonight.

Last week's Archer was pretty amazing. "But I'll watch while you masturbate... but my heart won't be in it. It'll be with that tiger's family. You can go ahead and get started."

Parks and Rec continues to be fantastic.

Time for more Archer! <3

I watch Grey's Anatomy willingly. It's not easy to admit that. I just want to see that one guy become a better person and that one girl being cute and quirky and standing up for herself. That's not so bad is it?

I'll admit to watching it as well. Not exactly sure why though. I watched the first four or five seasons, then took a couple off and came back into it last season. It's not as bad as some people make it to be.

Worth noting that The Vampire Diaries is new tonight as well, too bad I'm a couple episodes behind. For anyone with HBO, they started a rerun of Game of Thrones on Thursdays last week, the second episode airs tonight.

@Osaladin Yep, the only one.

Dig Deeper into Archer

Archer is an animated comedy about womanizing super-spy Sterling Archer and his co-workers at ISIS as they bicker about relationships, corporate cost-cutting, and occasionally saving the world.
