What To Watch: Let's Try That World Series Game Again

The rain, rain didn't go away, and now we have to have Game 6 on a whole nother day.

Good grief!
Good grief!

So, I guess my prediction that Game 6 of the World Series would be held yesterday was a bit off; in fact, it looks like it's going to wind up being played tonight, thanks to rain, meaning that if Game 7 winds up being necessary, it'll be played tomorrow. Sucks if you're Chuck, which has its season premiere tomorrow as well!

Actually, it's kind of terrible for all of tonight's shows, since they're all going to have to face off against Game Six as well. But at least if you're not a baseball fan you'll have something else to tune into, and at least we're spared from another episode of The X-Factor. Also, Charlie Brown! Also, Beavis and Butthead's new show premieres on MTV!

World Series

FOX 5/8 PM: So, disregard my listing of Game 6 for yesterday; this is actually Game 6, since yesterday's game got rained out. Which is bad news for all of the Thursday sitcoms, I guess, and possibly even worse news for tomorrow's premiere of Chuck, which will find itself facing a World Series game if this goes to a clincher.

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

ABC 8 PM: Faced with a World Series game as competition, ABC rolls right over and airs a 30-year-old Halloween special.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

FX 10 PM: "The gang plays the most twisted board game ever; Dee and Dennis face Mac, Charlie and Frank." This show would have to go pretty far to top itself when it comes to the "most twisted" anything, honestly.

Grey's Anatomy

ABC 9 PM: "Owen organizes a baseball game against Seattle Presbyterian; Lexie is unable to control her emotions when she sees Mark with a new woman; Alex fights for Zola; Richard talks to Meredith and Bailey about their feud." Will girls cry? Tune in tonight for the exciting answer!

The Big Bang Theory

CBS 8 PM: "An attractive comic book artist tests Leonard and Priya's relationship; Sheldon tries to scare his friends." Attractive comic book artist? Pshh, those are about as rare as attractive movie reviewers. Oh, wait.

Person of Interest

CBS 9 PM: "A new person of interest, a beautiful and resourceful woman, leaves Reese captivated." Yeah, I mean, I know that I look for a woman's resourcefulness when I'm wooing the ladies. "Could you provide for us if we were trapped on a desert island?" I ask them. Thus far, my search has been a lonely one.

The Mentalist

CBS 10 PM: "When the team travels to a resort town to investigate a police chief's murder, Lisbon runs into her brother (Henry Thomas), who is now a bounty hunter." Poor Henry Thomas. The world was your oyster after E.T., and now you're guest-starring on 10 PM dramas! At least it's not cable, I suppose.

Community

NBC 8 PM: "When an anonymous personality test that Britta runs on the group indicates that one of them is severely troubled, she asks Jeff to help her identify the person." I'm betting it's Chevy Chase. Not his character, I'm betting it's actually Chevy Chase.

Parks and Recreation

NBC 8:30 PM: "April and Andy throw a Halloween party, to Ben's dismay; Tom promotes his company while emceeing a campaign event for Leslie; Ron and Ann give Andy and April an unusual gift."

The Office

NBC 9 PM: "Erin tries to put on a Halloween party that will please both Andy and Robert California; Jim and Pam fight about the existence of ghosts; Dwight bonds with Robert California's son."

Whitney

NBC 9:30 PM: "Whitney asks Mark to help her prove Alex uses a condescending tone; when Alex's brother visits, old rivalries lead to fisticuffs." Oh, man, this is certainly Seinfeld-level territory we're venturing into.

Prime Suspect

NBC 10 PM: "While Jane investigates the death of a woman in the park, Duffy and Evrard look for the victim's stepfather; Jane and her father celebrate an important date." Who names someone Evrard?

The League

FX 10:30 PM: "Kevin struggles with getting older; Ruxin gets Rafi's help; Taco finds a market for Kevin and Jenny's wedding cocktail napkins; Pete learns a new sexual position."

I'm pretty excited for tonight's Community. They have a track record of great Halloween episodes.

There is too much TV tonight. The Leauge, It's Always Sunny, Community, Parks and Rec, Beavis & Butthead...I wish they'd space the shows out some more or put them on different nights.
Soupnazion Oct. 27, 2011 at 10:32 a.m.

...Evrard. Must be some gosh-fardangled darned foreign thingy-ma-bob.

Really looking forward to Parks and Rec.

I don't think I remembered to watch last week's Community >.>

Also Beavis and Butthead is tonight! DVR is already set :)

zombiesatemycerealon Oct. 27, 2011 at 10:51 a.m.

@FinalDasa: There wasn't a new Community last week.

Rorieon Oct. 27, 2011 at 10:52 a.m.

And I totally forgot to put Beavis and Butthead on here. I'm the worst at it!

OldGuyon Oct. 27, 2011 at 10:57 a.m.
@Rorie: Not to quibble on your math there but... ItGPCB is 45 years old with this airing, not 30.

@zombiesatemycereal: Phew, thanks for letting me know! I need to just DVR it from now on.

@OldGuy: Geeze, it's that old?

skrutopon Oct. 27, 2011 at 11:39 a.m.

I think Chuck's problem isn't the World Series. It's being on a Friday.

sotyfan16_2on Oct. 27, 2011 at 11:58 a.m.

The League! Yeah! Same for Big Bang. Good shows. The Cardinals need to win tonight in the WS. I have no problem sacrificing a night of TV for the sake of another championship for the Redbirds.

OldGuyon Oct. 27, 2011 at 12:41 p.m.
@PatVB: October 27th 1966 baby (so it's not just 45 years, it's 45 years to the day)! It was the third Primetime CB show after A Charlie Brown Christmas (Dec 9, 1965) and Charlie Brown's All Stars (Jun 8, 1966)... (oooh, no page here... I'll make one this weekend if someone hasn't jumped on it)...

What time is B&B on? 10?

zakkroon Oct. 27, 2011 at 1:21 p.m.

Looks like I'm watching Sunny Parks & Butthead tonight.

teh_destroyeron Oct. 27, 2011 at 4:47 p.m.

Evrard?

Bigheart711on Oct. 27, 2011 at 4:57 p.m.

So many choices....

risselesson Oct. 27, 2011 at 7:35 p.m.
Can't go wrong with Charlie Brown.

Dig Deeper into World Series

Hot dogs, beer, and I think baseball somewhere in there. Also, it's America's pastime.
