What to Watch: Wednesday

American Horror story returns for its completely revamped second series

1. American Horror Story

10:00pm on FX – Season Premiere

The new rebooted season of the show brings a whole new cast and no more Harmon family. But wait, were you just dying for Adam Levine's television drama acting debut? Wait, no more! I never got in to the whole American Horror Story thing, so I can't make any judgements so...I leave it to you to watch it and report back!

2. Nashville

10:00pm on ABC

The pilot was pretty fantastic and better than expected, so the real test will be episode two. In tonight's episode, Rayna must deal with family secrets as Teddy's campaign progresses and results in an investigation.

3. South Park

10:00pm on Comedy Central

Butters decides to begin a journey where he will follow in the path of his Hawaiian ancestors. Butters is Hawaiian?!

4. Suburgatory

9:30pm on ABC – Season Premiere

Tessa returns to Chatswin after spending summer with her grandmother.

5. Modern Family

9:00pm on ABC

Phil can't accept that Luke wants to quit magic and Gloria's snoring keeps Jay and Manny awake.

6. Arrow

8:00pm on The CW

Thoughts? Did people like it? Tonight, Oliver runs into Laurel at the courthouse and learns she is prosecuting a man associated with his father.

Arrow was ok. It still has that CW look but could be fun to watch, just hope it gets beyond the Buffy levels of effects. Some of the costumes just look like cosplay that just doesn't mesh with the mise-en-scene of Arrow.

Arrow had a fine first episode. I think it's a show that has legs. They just need to amp things up a bit by episode three. The main problem with the series will be that many people aren't familiar with Green Arrow, so they only have Smallville presented to work with in the minds of the mainstream TV watching crowd. Luckily, that can work in their advantage. All I know is THERE WAS A MUTHAFUCKIN DEATHSTROKE MASK ON THAT ISLAND! YEEEEEES!

I just finished watching season 1 of American Horror Story...and WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT SHOW?! It's so goddamn weeeeeeird. I mean, Twin Peaks is weird, but HOLY FUCK! That show was some crazy orgy of horror, mind fucks, and fetishism that I can barely comprehend. I liked it, but I question WHY I liked it. Nonetheless, I'll check out season 2, solely because stories in asylums are typically interesting to watch. Playing with the ideas of reality and illusion are always fascinating to me.

Arrow continues to be pretty good although it has to prove that it won't become too procedural. There is still some cheesy/campy stuff in there but the action is good enough (not as good as Person of Interest but still) and Ollie's character is more interesting than I would have thought.

Dig Deeper into American Horror Story

American Horror Story is, well, an American horror series airing on FX. It focuses on the Harmon family after they move across the country into a house known by the locals as, "The Murder House." The family experiences strange events that put them all in danger.
