Helix (Syfy, 10 p.m., Friday) – This comes from the man behind the reboot ofBattlestar Galactica. Something about it just doesn’t seem as interesting to me though I have weird taste and reasoning. It could be a rather nice riff on The Thingscenario.
Enlisted (Fox, 9:30 p.m., Friday) – When I saw the trailer for this show, it looked super dumb (even if it had our greatest living actor and VP of the Saints Keith David). However I’ve heard really good things about it.
Blade (Encore 8 p.m.) – The original Blade has some problems but as far as 90s weird action movies go it’s pretty good. The not so good Blade Trinity follows it.
NBA: Heats at Nets (ESPN 8/5 p.m.) – You could watch this or play Barkley Shut Up and Jam GAIDEN!
NFL Playoff: Saints at Seahawks (Fox, 4:30/1:30 p.m.) – something something is it Superbowl time yet?
NFL Playoff: Colts at Patriots (CBS 8/5 p.m.) – Hopefully after these two games it is.
The Incredibles (ABC Fam 8 p.m.) – Still one of the best superhero films ever made and a damn good family drama. Just imagine them in blue suits and it’s like you have a good Fantastic Four movie! Where's my sequel Brad Bird?
The Rock (AMC 8 p.m.) – I love this movie, it’s great Michael Bay setpieces, this time with Sean Connery rolling through furnaces and saying “Welcome to The Rock” and Nick Cage waxing poetic about classic rock and Elton John
Golden Globes (NBC 8pm) -- The Golden Globes may not be the premiere awards show but it is the first. You can usually gauge which movies will be snubbed entirely and which will be over hyped all before the Oscars fever has begun.
True Detective (HBO 9 p.m.) – I’ve been waiting all week for this one. Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson play a pair of detectives as they deal with a gruesome murder case for 17 years. Let the McConaughissance continue in to 2014!
No Country for Old Men (IFC 8:15 p.m.) – If The Counselor wasn’t your thing, perhaps this adaption of Cormac McCarthy’s novel will be more your speed.
NHL: Flyers at Rangers (NBCSN 8/5 p.m.)
