There are two pretty interesting things happening in television this weekend. On Saturday night at 8:00pm on ABC the first 3 parts of "Titanic" the mini-series written by Julian Fellowes premieres (the last part of the series will air on Sunday at 9:00pm). The creator of "Downton Abbey" explores the tragedy of the sinking of the Titanic with a similar perespective to the series and explores the events as they unfolded for all passengers and crew of the ship despite their class. If I wasn't so sick about hearing about the Titanic, I would be very interested in this, but since I love his writing I might also be willing to give it a try.
On Sunday night at 10:30pm, HBO is airing the series premiere of "Girls," the new comedy created, starring, and written by 25 year old Lena Dunham (Tiny Furniture). The show is about four young women in their 20s living in New York, but it's not supposed to be traditional fair. "Girls" aims to show the lives of these girls in a gritty and realistic manner - and if the fact that it's in a slot right after Eastbound and Down, and the fact that Judd Apatow's is involved is any indication, i'm guessing it's pretty no-holds-barred. I hope HBO has another winner on its hands. I know that I will certainly be tuning in to see.
What to Watch: Weekend
| 1. Fringe 9pm on FOX Fridays is a toss up between Fringe and Grimm, but Grimm has already been picked up for another season, but Fringe might need the help, so I went that way. | |
| 2. Eastbound & Down 10pm on HBO Season 3 Finale. Must we really say goodbye to Kenny Powers so soon? And is it forever? I'm just not ready! | |
| 3. Game of Thrones 9pm on HBO. Let's see where it goes from here! | |
| 4. Mad Men 10pm on AMC We now know Don's subconscious wants his marriage to Megan to be real and sustained. Now we begin the journey to find out how long that lasts? |

I'm glad we're seeing an end to at least THIS journey for Kenny Powers. I can't wait to see his finish line, because I know the writers will bring him to an appropriate conclusion, especially for the character's journey sake. Jody Hill and Danny McBride should be proud for what they did, which is make one of the most insane and brilliant comedic character studies to grace TV. I just want Jody to continue making movies. Observe and Report is too much good proof of the man's talent for him to stop. Plus, he mentioned HERE that his next flick isn't a comedy! Yes!
That also says that Eastbound and Down is possibly not over- it's more of a break.
I'm also excited about Girls. Just in general- they're very nice.
Oh man do I need to get back on the Game of Thrones train.
Girls seems dangerously close to crossing the line into "cry for my fake rich white girl problems" territory, but it seems like HBO's been making nothing but good moves, so I'll definitely give it at least a shot.

Unless you've read the book so you'd know what's going on, I'd say this season might be better watched all at once rather than weekly. The first two episodes have been good, but the story is by necessity pretty fragmented, so I think it'll work much better as a weekend marathon kinda thing. Talking to some friends who haven't read it, they have no fucking clue what's going on.
Grimm is awful, it has so much potential but fails in every way. The best character in the show is the Werewolf, otherwise its a pile of piss.

Totally agreed! I love everything that Jody Hill has done.
Its Game of Thrones and Legend of Korra for me
I need to watch Game of Thrones. I have HBO finally so I need to get into for me! Plus, Legend of Korra has begun on Nick. It looks like it will be an awesome show.
I expected more from Grimm. I don't think it's as good as people make out. I do like it, it's just so far down my list compared to other great tv shows. Fringe is way better.
