What to Watch: Weekend

Fringe bids adieu to both of its worlds and the competitive Sunday night shows are back

1. Fringe

8:00pm on Friday, FOX – Series Finale

The two hour finale of the freaky supernatural series, that personally, I am sad to see go. I will miss you, Asterisk, Aspirin and Aphid.

2. Banshee

8:30pm on Friday, Cinemax

Anybody watch? Thoughts?

3. Tasmanian Devils
9:00pm on Saturday, SyFy
Monstrous Tasmanian devils terrorize a group of sky divers and parks rangers starring Apolo Ohno. Yes, the Olympic Medalist.
4. Shameless

8:00pm on Sunday, Showtime

Fiona gets stressed about the money she used for her club night and Frank finally makes his way home.

5. Californication

9:00pm on Showtime

After Hank's downward spiral, he finds himself trying to get "better". Maybe.

6. Girls

8:00pm on Sunday, HBO

Here's to hoping this season of Girls doesn't suck nearly as hard as the first episode did.

7. Downton Abbey

9:00pm on Sunday, PBS

I'm doing a marathon this weekend to catch up, so don't tell me anything. The internets have already ruined enough!

All you need to know is Downton Abbey is awesome.

Regarding Fringe, I fell off bandwagon towards the end of season 3. I think once it hits Netflix Instant I'll go catch up. That show was really promising the first and even part of the second season. It was the new X-Files for me. Sadly, I think it took a turn for the way too weird and lost people as a result. I wonder if it would've had a better run on SyFy ala BSG.

I still like Fringe and am a bit bummed out to see it go, but its not as great (to me) as it once was. The first two series (roughly) were all about mad science, crazy technology and all that but as it went on and they introduced the other universe and the character's alternates and all the other baggage it lost something of its charm. Now, with its war against the Observers and future setting, it lost some of its magic.

Dig Deeper into Fringe

Strange events are unfolding around the world and two opposing powers are at the center of it: the Massive Dynamics corporation and terrorist organization ZFT. Scientist Walter Bishop, his son Peter, and special agent Olivia Dunham are determined to uncover the truth about these occurrences.
