Machete Kills has its newest cast member and it is...Lady Gaga. In what feels like a very weird turn, both Gaga and Robert Rogdriguez went to twitter today to report she was on set filming the role of La Chameleon. First of all, I have to say at least it is not Katy Perry. Second, while Gaga might have a whole gaggle of little monster tween followers, she does have such an odd persona that this could almost work by bringing something interesting to the movie. But then again, seriously? Her?
The Martin Scorsese, Leo DiCaprio movie Wolf of Wall Street is rounding out its cast, with two new members this week. Since making a name for himself as a director, Jon Favreau oftentimes only works behind the lens these days, but he will be making an exception, appearing on screen this time. He will play a securities lawyer. Dustin Hoffman's son Jake Hoffman, has also joined the cast and will play shoe designer Steve Madden. The film is based on the real-life memoir of Jordan Belfort, and chronicles the rise and fall of his life working on Wall Street.
Warner Bros has decided to push the release date of Gangster Squad from September 7th to January 11th, 2013. They have shifted the date in the wake of the tragic shooting in Aurora, Colorado before a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises. The trailer of the film was pulled as it contains a graphic scene in which a movie theater screen is shot up. Apparently, the scene is very pivotal to the plot of the movie and could not just easily be removed. There was no report in this release if the scene will be re-shoot or removed, so we will have to wait for more updates on that.
If you watched Despicable Me and thought it was good, but wondered what it would be like if there were to be a whole movie about those cute little yellow men, you have to wonder no longer. Universal and Illumination Entertainment have just started work on a spinoff based on The Minions. The film is a completely new story. We will see new characters, as well as some from Despicable Me. However, the story will center around the wild antics of the cute little yellow guys, as they interact with humans. I'm all for thinking those guys are cute, but centering an entire film around a bunch of characters that don't really speak understandable English? That seems like a bit of a stretch to me. Despicable Me 2 is currently in production and scheduled to be released on July 3, 2013. Presumably, this movie will be released some time in 2014.

@Doc_Holliday:
I agree. This delay for Gangster Squad is really depressing. I don't understand why Warner Bros. is so scared about the recent shooting in Colorado (it will take me a while to get it out of my mind), that they feel that they need to either re-shoot or re-edit that scene.
On the other hand...Lady Gaga in the Machete sequel. That's both bizarre and hilarious!
I love the Gos, but Gangster Squad just looks like a silly(er) remake of The Untouchables, so I'm not upset about this. Also, Sean Penn looks awful, both his makeup and his performance.
I don't want to be that guy, but this should be changed:
Machete is an over the top film, it's a great platform for GaGa's quirkiness.
I can't wait to see (: I'm sure she'll be great.
I remember Gaga saying on Ellen (at least I think it was Ellen) that acting was something she really wished she could get an opportunity. I'm interested to see how she does.
I feel like having a movie completely based on the minions is like having a movie based entirely off of the rabbids from Rayman. Not sure how that will work out, but we'll see.
