If you read my review of Will Ferrell's latest movie, Everything Must Go, you'll recall that I was wondering whether that indie dramedy was the marker for a new turn in the comic actor's career. Turns out that was not the case and the man is quickly returning to his bread and butter with an upcoming comedy that will see him rejoin his Other Guys co-star, Mark Wahlberg.
The movie is called Turkey Bowl and centers on the rivalry between two competing towns' tackle football teams. Each led by Ferrell and Wahlberg, these are apparently pick-up teams, not professional or school organizations. That's about the long and short of the plot, leaving plenty of room for mounds of trash talk and grab-ass.
The film is written by 30 Rock's Robert Carlock and Scott Silveri, with Alec Baldwin currently signed on to play Wahlberg's father. You can expect a boatload of cameos, ala Anchorman, in this as well.
I really enjoyed The Other Guys, and found the dynamic between Ferrell and Wahlberg to be quite enjoyable, so I am cautiously optimistic here. It could potentially be another Anchorman (doubtful), or it could truly disappoint and be another Semi-Pro...
