Hope you guys had a good time with the Oscars live-stream/chat/reaction thing! I'll update this post with the winners when I get home in a bit, but in the meantime, if you want to react to the winners, this is the place to do it. Hugo wound up winning most of the technical awards, but The Artist was the big winner, taking home Best Director, Actor, Screenplay, and, of course, Best Picture for the night. Well-deserved awards for the most part, and we'll have plenty of reactions to them on the podcast tomorrow. I would've chosen The tree of Life but The Artist is an excellent movie and deserved it. Also yay for A Separation! An absolutely flawless movie, and great speech by director Asghar Fahardi.

I can't say I disagree with any of the awards given out tonight. I haven't seen The Artist yet, but I really should.
Also, it's nice to have a year's break where a Pixar movie isn't nominated for anything.
Nothing for The Tree Of Life... At least they could have given it the award for best cinematography.
I was busy seeing Children Of Bodom Live.

@Artie: Midnight in Paris was considered the front-runner for Best Original Screenplay by many, actually. But yeah, Meryl Streep winning for Iron Lady was out there.
Most of the categories weren't too surprising though I was pretty shocked Meryl Streep won for Best Actress. I wonder if this was more of a "Hey, you haven't won in 30 years so here you go" kind of win or if they really thought she was the best. Also, I was kind of hoping A Separation would win for Original Screenplay but oh well. Does anyone know why Woody Allen wasn't there? Is he too good for the Oscars or something?
Bottom line: George Clooney wins because he gets to take Stacey Kiebler home for the night.
Also, Natalie Portman was smoking hot.
Glad Woody got and Oscar! Also glad that Girl with the Dragon Tattoo got something, but I think it shoulda been Rooney though. We get it Meryl is a great actress! Give some others a confidence boost!
