Your Oscar Winners: The Artist Comes Up Big, Hugo Wins A Lot Of Stuff But Not The Important Stuff, Emma Stone Is Adorable

The Artist and Hugo come up big at the latest installment of the Academy Awards. How'd you do with your predictions?

Academy Award winner, Uggie.
Academy Award winner, Uggie.

Hope you guys had a good time with the Oscars live-stream/chat/reaction thing! I'll update this post with the winners when I get home in a bit, but in the meantime, if you want to react to the winners, this is the place to do it. Hugo wound up winning most of the technical awards, but The Artist was the big winner, taking home Best Director, Actor, Screenplay, and, of course, Best Picture for the night. Well-deserved awards for the most part, and we'll have plenty of reactions to them on the podcast tomorrow. Again, I'll edit this post tonight when I get home, but if you still feel like posting your reactions, do so here!

Did I miss anything? I was busy watching zombies get shot, stabbed, and their heads run over. Also, jousting.

KJon Feb. 26, 2012 at 9:19 p.m.

Haven't watch the show yet, thanks for the spoilers.

Thanks! Rorie.

You can't honestly tell me you went to a post called "Oscar Winner", and expected that there wouldn't be spoilers.

AlKusanagion Feb. 26, 2012 at 9:23 p.m.

Don't worry, it's not a spoiler. The zombies didn't actually joust.

Ontheochoon Feb. 26, 2012 at 9:23 p.m.

Viva le France! I just hope that Dejardin doesn't go the way of Roberto Bernini. OSS 117 forever!

chaiHazukion Feb. 26, 2012 at 9:25 p.m.

Enjoyed watching it with you guys, thanks for doing that!

Black_Roseon Feb. 26, 2012 at 9:28 p.m.

I would've chosen The tree of Life but The Artist is an excellent movie and deserved it. Also yay for A Separation! An absolutely flawless movie, and great speech by director Asghar Fahardi.

You Pups in the chat made the Oscars watchable. Though I'm sure the 5 beers helped.

LiquidSwordson Feb. 26, 2012 at 9:30 p.m.

Had a great time on the chat! Been meaning to watch The Artist but other movies have gotten in the way, that and no one wants to go see it with me! And this happened:

LoL, great going on clicking on the link dumb dumb!

I can't say I disagree with any of the awards given out tonight. I haven't seen The Artist yet, but I really should.

Also, it's nice to have a year's break where a Pixar movie isn't nominated for anything.

HisDudenesson Feb. 26, 2012 at 9:35 p.m.

Nothing for The Tree Of Life... At least they could have given it the award for best cinematography.

Jameson Feb. 26, 2012 at 9:36 p.m.

I was busy seeing Children Of Bodom Live.

@LiquidSwords: Can Ryan Seacrest really be so surprised? His career is based on being in front of a camera live. I think a better host would have taken that all in stride. It's not like he can't afford another tux.

Artieon Feb. 26, 2012 at 9:43 p.m.

Most boringly predictable show ever outside of Original Screenplay and Actress.

You're funny :) Because you're joking.

ddenselon Feb. 26, 2012 at 9:46 p.m.

Zombies and Sega Genesis held my attention for most of the night, but I did see the final few awards.

Congrats to Rango for ending Pixar's reign of tyranny and taking home the Best Animated feature prize!

Hot_Karlon Feb. 26, 2012 at 9:52 p.m.

@Artie: Midnight in Paris was considered the front-runner for Best Original Screenplay by many, actually. But yeah, Meryl Streep winning for Iron Lady was out there.

rem25on Feb. 26, 2012 at 9:54 p.m.

Most of the categories weren't too surprising though I was pretty shocked Meryl Streep won for Best Actress. I wonder if this was more of a "Hey, you haven't won in 30 years so here you go" kind of win or if they really thought she was the best. Also, I was kind of hoping A Separation would win for Original Screenplay but oh well. Does anyone know why Woody Allen wasn't there? Is he too good for the Oscars or something?

Bottom line: George Clooney wins because he gets to take Stacey Kiebler home for the night.

Also, Natalie Portman was smoking hot.

FoxMulderon Feb. 26, 2012 at 9:55 p.m.

Glad Woody got and Oscar! Also glad that Girl with the Dragon Tattoo got something, but I think it shoulda been Rooney though. We get it Meryl is a great actress! Give some others a confidence boost!

Milkmanon Feb. 26, 2012 at 9:55 p.m.
@LiquidSwords: I'm actually impressed with how well Seacrest took that. Say what you will about the guy but dude's a pro.
