From Ridley Scott's Blade Runner, the 1982 adaptation of Phillip K. Dick's Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep novel, a replicant is another term for humanoid android

Created for work in the harshest environments of Earth and space, Nexus-6 replicants are human-looking robots that possess superhuman strength and intelligence, but have their life spans limited to 4-years. The ultimate reason for this fail-safe is unclear: some expository material suggests their supercharged physiology can't handle the stress past that mark; other material claims it's an insurance policy to prevent the androids from becoming too smart and overthrowing the human order.

Of the six Nexus-6 models that escaped to Earth all were killed in the movie, though it is suggested that Deckard may have been a rogue model. Whatever the case, without a doubt, Sean Young is the hottest android ever to appear in film. Yowza.
