It's a night of stripping nuns, hotel ice rooms, Russian food, psychotic ex-boyfriends and lovingly trashy ex-girlfriends.

Plot Synopsis

Nick ( Michael Cera) has recently been dumped by his now ex-girlfriend, Tris ( Alexis Dziena), and is still in his mourning phase. He continually sends her mix tapes and phone calls. His friends/bandmates come to pick him up for a gig, but he declines citing he's taking a mental health day off. However, news of a secret show for Nick's favorite band , "Where's Fluffy" convinces him to go out.

Norah ( Kat Denning s) is an acquaintance of Nick's ex. When Tris throws out Nick's mix-tapes, Norah takes them as she shares similar musical tastes as Nick despite never meeting him. Tris tells Norah and her best friend, Caroline ( Ari Graynor), that Where's Fluffy is playing a secret show, leading Norah and Caroline to make plans to go see them play.

Later that night, both Nick and Norah end up at the same club (as Nick's band, The Jerk Offs, are opening for a band at the club Fluffy last played at). After a run-in with Tris who mocks Norah's lack of boyfriend, Norah makes out with Nick to prove Tris wrong, not knowing that Nick was Tris's ex. Nick and Norah end up trying to bring Caroline, who at this point is already stone drunk, home.

Convinced by the makeout session and their mutual hate of Tris, Nick's friends decide to help the two titular characters get together. They coinvince Norah that they will take Caroline home, whilst Nick and Norah go looking for "Where's Fluffy".  Things go good, despite initial awkwardness, until, at the end of the album they are listening to in the car, a recording of Nick is heard talking about Tris. This leads to an argument about Tris, with Norah storming off.

At that moment, Nick's friends call to inform him that they lost Caroline, who ran off after hearing a song about going "balls deep" after waking from her drunken stupor. This convinces Norah to stay with Nick until they find her.

Through some extremely loose logic, the group heads to the Bowery Ballroom, where it is expected that Where's Fluffy (and to a lesser extent, Caroline) will be. There they meet Norah's sort of ex-boyfriend, Tal ( Jay Baruchel). The show ends up being a bait and switch, with "Are You Randy" appearing instead, and the group leaves, including Norah who ditches Tal.

The group eventually finds Caroline at "Midnight Ass", a gay bar, and head back home. However, they are intercepted by Tris at Nick's car, who decides to go meet with her, much to Norah's chagrin. Once Nick leaves, Norah calls Tal to meet up again.

After leaving with Tris, Nick eventually ditches her after realizing that he has more in common with Norah. Norah also ditches Tal after finding out that he was with her only because her father is the owner of Electric Lady Studios.

Nick calls Norah, and apologizes for leaving her. They reconcile and go to Electric Lady Studios, where they end up having sex. Soon afterwards, they are informed by Caroline that she and Nick's friends have found where "Where's Fluffy" is actually playing and rush off to go meet them.

At the show, Tris and Tal are waiting for them. However Nick and Norah reject them and leave before the show starts. Asked if he was sad that he missed it (implying the show), Nick replies to Norah that "this is it". The pair kiss, and some sweet late title credits roll.
