Loosely based on Homer's 'The Odyssey', the Coens' prohibition-era comedic farce follows three dim-witted chain gang escapees on their quest for freedom through the American south.

Among the many episodes experienced by the "undercover" screenwriter researching for his screenplay of the same name that then appear in "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?" are a little boy helping the main character escape a posse via roadster; nighttime escape by scaling a wall with sheets tied into a rope; hopping a freight car; a chain gang being shown a movie; and, at the very end, the question of the permanence of a marriage.

Damn! We're in a tight spot!
