     Each Paranormal Activity has had a different director.  Why?

The first one was a low budget independent film, after it was hugely successful the director is famous and producing other movies. He is also working on a new found footage project called "Area 51." The second was probably just who was chosen by the director to do the basically studio mandated sequel. Even though I really liked it, it was basically made because you know...money. I don't know about the change for the third but I'm excited to see what Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost do with it after the excellent Catfish.

@VioletEyedDragon
Because Directors have other things they wish to film, and studios don't want to wait until a director is ready to make the sequel.

Because one day they hope to attach a good director to this franchise and make a decent movie.

i was not a huge fan of catfish.  if it was real, than it was mean what they did.  it was probably fiction, but they should have told.

but i don't see paranormal activity 2 director Tod Williams doing anything.  i dont see why he wouldnt have been available to make a sequel.
