Does anyone watch Pawn Stars?

I love this show.  I probably watched the entire series (so far) in about a week's time span.  I remember when my parents use to watch the Antique's Road Show, but I never got into that.  I feel like this is a modern day's equivalent.

I've read some critics saying that it's silly that they portray a pawn shop in this light.  But I think it's obvious that a real pawn shop wouldn't bring in experts on every single thing brought into the store, but I can over look that easily.  A lot of parts also seem pretty scripted, but I'm alright with that as well.

yeah I watch it like at 2 am when it's on demand. It's funny but I don't care enough to set aside time to watch it whenever it's on

@Ryax:

Yeah, they definitely rip people off, no question.  But if the person bringing in the item really wanted to sell it on their own than they could.  The pawn shop is doing them a service by giving them the money they need now as oppose to later on.  I don't think I'd ever take anything into a pawn shop and expect to get my initial investment back.

no that would be pretty naive. but i dunno, it just doesn't sit right with me when some one gets ripped off to their face and there is nothing they can do because they need the cash.

I've never even heard of it. Is it only showing in the US at the moment?

Yeah, it's definitely depressing, but when you need the money I guess you have to make sacrifices.  If the pawn shop gave market price for all of the items brought in, they would be broke and in need of money too.

That's exactly what I though. I guess it isn't being broadcast outside the US since I've never heard of it either.

I've seen it a few times. It's sometimes interesting, but it's weird how he has a "friend" for every little thing.

Yeah, if you watch the show a bunch of times it's just the same people coming back over and over again to help them out.  I'm sure that's not a normal practice, but it makes good television so I won't complain.

I was really into this show when it first came on, but since I've kinda fallen out of love with it. It lost the organic comedy that was so charming about it, and now has reverted to just reinforcing the personalities over and over again. The saving grace, though, is that there is some pretty damn cool items brought into the store. I especially like when they refinish old Americana items like Coke machines.

Getting kinda tired of the whole Chumlee bit. And they should probably play up the girl that works there a little bit more.

@Ryax: PEACHES, that's her name. Thanks for reminding me. How can you not have a girl on a show more when her name is PEACHES? That's adorable. ha.

It's alright. As far as History Channel is concerned, I'd rather just watch Modern Marvels. In Pawn Stars, that one extremely fat guy is just such an idiot.

I'm fascinated by the historical stuff that often comes into the shop, it's a history lovers dream. I actually visited the shop when I was in Vegas, bought an Xbox 360 from there because my old one had just died.
