A ditsy, care-free earth pony who loves to have fun whenever she can. One of the main characters from "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic".

Pinkie Pie is an earth pony who is among Twilight Sparkle's circle of friends. While she works as a baker, she is most-renowned in Ponyville for her parties, which always guarantee a good time.

Her cutie mark is a trio of blue and yellow balloons, which symbolize her ability to bring joy: often through the aformentioned parties.

She is played by Andrea Libman, who also voices Fluttershy.

Background

Pinkie Pie was born into a family of mopey rock farmers outside of Ponyville. For most of her childhood, she lived an unjoyful life with her other sisters; all only knowing work. But one day, Pinkie witnessed a beautiful rainbow, caused by Rainbow Dash's sonic rainboom, and for the first time in her life, she cracked a smile. The display blew away the dreary clouds over her home and also poofed out her hair. Having found joy, she put together a party for her family the next day: sharing her happiness with them

At some point, Pinkie Pie moved into Ponyville and took up a job as a baker at the Sugar Cube Corner. While there, she became well-known for her parties, which she is willing to hold for any event: from birthdays to town celebrations. Later, she met Twilight Sparkle and, following the events of the two-part pilot, became a close friend.

Personality

"Never mind her: she's just being Pinkie Pie."
-Twilight Sparkle

Pinkie Pie, simply put, is the "random" character of Friendship is Magic. Her actions and behavior are rarely given any explanation but her neighbors and friends have just come to accept it. This unpredictably, combined with her airheadedness, sometimes makes her a burden for her friends: her actions and logic sometimes being difficult to comprehend. Pinkie Pie loves to be with the girls, as well as pull light-hearted pranks on most of them.

Because of her nature, she is the most cartoony character of the show. She is often seen in strange places for comic effect and, at times, breaks the forth wall.

Other Notes

  • Pinkie Pie is from the "third-generation" of My Little Pony toys; introduced in 2003.
